Hi Ladies,
As I am new to all this, I wanted to see what you thought of this proposal from the photographer my FI and I have been chatting with.
$1200 US for:
-4 hours on the big day
-Pre-wedding trial/consultation to go to venue and test out lighting and pictures etc
-Fully edited pictures
-Online access to all pictures after editing
-100-175 fully edited pictures on CD
Let me know your thoughts
Thanks!
Re: Got a proposal from the photographer
I saw a similar package in PR, same price, it did not include a trial and it was for 6 hours (personally I'd prefer a trial like your package). It also said "unlimited locations day-of" maybe you could ask about that. Especially if you want "getting ready" pictures, ceremony, and reception. I would think it was a given but you never know!

Thanks for your reply!
It does include: getting ready, ceremony, bride and groom portraits, bridal party protraits and reception..... three locations most likely. She has already offered to help us pick out a few extra places too.
[QUOTE]Sometimes, it's cheaper and you get a bigger selection of photographers to fly in your own. That's what we are doing. We are paying for her trip and she's taking pictures all 5 days and we get all prints in digital file. I know it's costing us less than $1200.

It's costing you less than $1200!? Where is your photog. based out of? I may fly her to Jersey for my wedding weekend!! That's amazing and unheard of around here...
Our photog. is $1200 but we get her from 8am to midnight, all images edited, the rights to all images, online gallery hosted for a year and a half, dvd of high-resolution images (all pictures), CD of low-resolution images (all pictures, for posting online), a printed 11x14, one 8x10, and 100 4x6's. The package also includes a second shooter and unlimited locations.

Hi Ladies -
Thought about flying a photographer down there, but with flight and hotel in Barbados it would cost over $2000 which is over our budget
We are having a very small (14 ppl) ceremony and having the consultation/trial shoot the day or two before is pretty invaluable... at least I thought so?

[QUOTE]Sounds like a good deal to me. The cheapiest Mexico photographer I've been able to find is 2000 for 6 hours. Some are well over 7,000.. So crazy.

$7000? Holy moly! That is crazy!!!!
[QUOTE]That's really a great deal! I'm learning a lot about photography pricing now since I'm starting to get into that business and I know in the Baltimore market if you price yourself under $2k you get eaten alive by other photographers for "ruining" and "undervaluing" the trade. And even then, for full coverage $2k is low. We paid about $2k for our photographer to come to Hawaii and shoot our wedding with her husband and for them to be there for 4 nights. It was worth it to her because we only worked her for half a day and the rest of the time was a vacation that she and her husband wouldnt have taken otherwise. And she's awesome and we now have a relationship with her. I think it's important to build a relationship with your photographer which is another benefit to choosing someone local to you. You get an engagement session to get to know them, so you don't waste time being awkward around them on the wedding day. That was a huge help for us. Photographers can also be there to grow with your family! As you have kids and need a maternity, newborn, or family session. It's good to have someone that you already know and love... And repeat customers often get discounts ;) Just some food for thought. Sorry for the ramble.

Good to know it is a good deal. I really like that she does a 'pre-wedding' trial with all her DW couples (that will help with becoming more comfortable). I might do some research to see what the minimum cost would be to fly someone down with us, I just worry it will be put me over budget...
No need to be sorry, I really appreciate any advice/feedback/ideas.... I have a lot of time, and really want to do things right for J and I :)
The most basic one for 3 hours, starting at 3 with bride getting ready, groom getting ready, followed by portraits of the bride and groom separately, ceremony, friend and family portraits and finished with sunset couple shots around 6. The rate for this is $700
Next would be a 4 hour shoot including all the previously mentioned plus dinner, toasts and first dances. $900
And the next option is for me to stay on hourly during the reception and party. I will charge $150 hourly to stay on.
All packages include - Coordination of large group photos - Post production of all photos - All images in color, black & white and sepia - Professional photo slideshow - DVD with all full sized edited images mailed 2 weeks from the wedding date
We are getting the basic package because my aunt is also a photographer who will be shooting all week + a TTD the next day. I just wanted two photogs for the wedding day just in case. I bought my aunt's airfare and she is doing this for me + my hair (she is a hairdresser too!) I spent $540 for her air.
