Carmel/Monterey Weather

Hi everyone, I'm curious if anyone had their wedding (or lives there, I guess?) in Monterey or Carmel, and how it went with the weather. I'm nervous that it's usually pretty chillyand overcast, even in the summer (according to monthly average temps). Anyone have any idea if this will be an issue? We won't be right on the beach or anything like that.

When's your date? Typically the best weather for the coastal areas is September- End of October.

We started our venue search in Monterey but moved more north and inland due to the weather always being so-so. It's not horrible but it's never warm either. And it's too hard to predict a heat wave.

We haven't actually set a date yet, and September is definitely a possibility. Would May/June be too much of a risk?

I'm getting married in 2 weeks in Carmel on the beach.  The weather is usually awesome in Monterey & Carmel in September and October.  My MOH lives down there and the weather has been a little cool the past couple of days.

May/June will be foggy and cold. There is less fog September October and even early November.

i agree w/ caligirl. i live in monterey. our summers are later in the year, september-october. it's been really warm lately (global warming) and much earlier than usual. between may and june you never know. my college's graduation is held the first week of june on a saturday and it's outside; it has always been warm and sunny. starts off overcast in the morning and by noon the sun is out. i've been her for five years and it has always been that way so far.

Ok so it seems like you guys are saying this (just checking!)May/June: might be ok, but better not to risk itJuly/August: probably sunny, but not necessarily very warmSept/Oct: the ideal monthsThanks! That helped a lot. Now I just have to see if I'm ok with waiting an entire YEAR for the wedding...

It depends on where your event will be held. If you are in Pacific Grove, Carmel or Pebble Beach it can be socked in fog any day of the year, but it might be sunny and warm in Monterey or Carmel Valley 5 or 10 minutes away.  Like right now. I'm in Monterey inn the sun and I can see the fog bank in Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach from my window. What locations are you looking at?Wedding season in Monterey Peninsula is May-October and Sept is generally a nice time but sometimes it's really nice in December and January. It's rarely under 50 degrees ever.

Thanks EastBayChick, that's really helpful! We're looking at a venue in Carmel Valley about 6 miles down Carmel Valley Rd from Carmel-By-The-Sea, so it's not on the coast. Their event planner said it should be low seventies there in May, so I'm just hoping that's true!
