back with vendor reviews :)

Hi everyone! It's been awhile, and I didn't even properly sign off, but I'm back now and married.  The day was amazing--but looking forward to having my weekends back again!  Here are some thoughts I had on vendors we used (I always thought these were helpful when I was planning):The Ridge Golf Club, Auburn (venue) : A.  The Ridge was STUNNING!  Seriously, the golf course was beautiful and the giant oak tree looks majestic in our pictures.  The Ridge was a perfect site for us because in October, it has that "Tahoe feeling/look" but isn't as expensive as a wedding in Tahoe.  Plus, you don't have to worry about being snowed out.  Ruby Aikman, the wedding coordinator, is AMAZING!!  She truly kept everything in line and made the day awesome.  The food was good--we had a plated dinner with a filet mignon (heard was great), chicken option, and vegan option.  The vegan eggplant risotto was amazing!Divine Desserts, Loomis (cake) : B+.  Cake wasn't all that important to us--the cake looked great (3-tier white fondant cake with eggplant and copper ribbon), but wasn't anything overly complex.  DD doesn't rent out cake stands, so if your venue doesn't have one, you'll have to rent one (or go without--that's what we did!).  The cake was good--not GREAT, but good.Keepsakes Bridal, Fair Oaks (alterations): A.  Reasonably priced ($200 for my alterations--hemming and pressing), and the adorable British woman who does the alterations is great.  The sales ladies are a bit pushy on trying to get you to buy other stuff, but not mean.Keepsakes Bridal, Fair Oaks (bridesmaid dresses): B+.  Ordered our Alfred Angelo bridesmaid dresses here--the service was good when we ordered them (they matched the $20 off discount the AA store in Roseville was doing), but had a little communication problems as to when the dresses were actually coming in.  I'd still go back there again for a BM dress.Ambience Floral, Roseville (flowers): A++.  Katie is INCREDIBLE!  She can honestly work with any budget and truly "gets" your vision and makes it work.  Our centerpieces were stunning, the bouquets were sturdy and amazing--the eggplant callas were exactly what I envisioned.  She and her crew were AMAZING.Invitations by Dawn, online (invitations): A.  No complaints.  We wanted simple invitations, and luckily the ones we loved were ON SALE!  Got 100 invitations, envelopes, RSVP cards, etc. for $100.  Amazing.Extreme Production DJs, Roseville (DJ): A.  Dominic was great.  He kept the party going and kept everything rolling on time.  He also knew how to cut off the songs when we were done dancing without it being awkward...Oh, and the lighting was worth it ($300 for 8 up lights)!Bucheli Photography, Roseville (photography): A++.  Andrea is incredible.  She is VERY reasonably priced ($1800 for 6 hours and a CD with all images edited).  She and her assistant Christina were so comforting--they were like sisters, helping us out and enjoying the day with us.  She caught the most amazing shots and her pictures truly make me feel beautiful.  Highest recommendation.Bridal Image, San Francisco (wedding dress and veil):  A++.  Another incredible vendor.  Stayed open late so I could come back and try my dress on again after the first try.  Sample sizes are 8's and 10's...which was easier for me to envision on myself than the too-small or too-big ones at other places.  Gave me enough attention that I felt helped, but not overwhelmed, and definitely not pushy.  They are super patient, reasonably priced, and REALLY nice.  They also helped me work my dream veil into my budget. Traci Lynn Bucher, Auburn (makeup):  B+.  Traci did a great job on my sisters and mom, and even let us start at her house since we couldn't get into the Ridge early enough to have everyone done on time.  She is totally fun.  My makeup was what I told her I wanted, but looking back at the pictures, I wish I had done a little more dramatic so that it would have stood out in the pictures more.  But she did exactly what I wanted, and made it affordable for my bridesmaids.Amber Wright, Auburn (hair): B.  My hair looked great for the ceremony and the pictures before.  But after the post-ceremony pictures the bobby pins couldn't hold it up and it started falling out!  My sister had to do an emergency pinning, and it wasn't as tight for the rest of the night (I was constantly worried it was going to fall out).  My sister's hair was exactly what she wanted (complex, but Amber did a great job), and my other BM's curls lasted all night.Citizen Hotel, Sacramento (wedding night): B.  We got the honeymoon package, which was $240 for rose petals on the bed, champagne, dessert waiting for us, and then room service in the morning.  The room service and dessert were DELICIOUS.  The problem: the club that was almost DIRECTLY under our room, whose music was SO LOUD!  That kinda was a downer to what was otherwise a very nice night.  The view was great, the room not very impressive.  But breakfast from Grange was very good--I highly recommend the goat cheese/sundried tomato scramble.Sandals Grande St. Lucian, St. Lucia (honeymoon): B+.  We had an AMAZING time.  Made great friends, gorgeous weather, etc.  The food isn't AMAZING, but it's better than I could make.  I've been to the Sandals in Ochos Rios and a couple other all-inclusives in the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, and Cancun.  St. Lucia is FOR SURE the best for honeymooning--SO ROMANTIC!  We were in a swim-up conceirge-level room for 7 nights, and a beach-front rondoval for 2 nights! The only down side was the long time to get there (5 hours to Miami, then 3.5 hours to St. Lucia)HTH!  Happy Planning!
