A Very Small Budget - Sacramento

We originally set a date for May 28th, 2011. But after doing some cruise shopping, we've decided to take our cruise in January to save a lot of money for our honeymoon trip. In doing so - our budget which was small to begin with ($3,000 for everything) Is now.... well... smaller. Because I'm a full time student, and we have a 4 month old son.... money doesn't already exist  - it has to be saved.

Anyhow I went and saw the Natomas Rose Garden ($140) and loved it.... but since we're moving our date to January and outdoor ceremony is out of the question. And our plans of a small reception in our backyard is now out of the question. So I'm back at square one. No Venue for either event. We're only having 30 or so people.... but all of the parks and rec places are charging around $80 an hour for rooms not including the crazy deposits. I'm at a loss.

I'm about ready to call it quits and just go to the court house. :(

What about the Masonic Temples in your area?

You could do it at a church most churches dont charge anything you could find one with a hall in it like a kitchen and big enough room for tables and chairs you can make it work cause if you found a nice church with a hall your wedding will be even cheaper than you thought.

I'm unsure about the church.... my fiance and I are no way religious and I wouldn't feel right doing that. The masonic is a pretty sought after site.

I'm still at square one. I looked at some of the park and rec buildings in the fair oaks district and they're pretty decent price wise... but not very nice. Conversely sac park and rec are more expensive and a little nicer - well some of them anyway.

And now... we've found out my soon to be brother and sister in law are expecting in January....and I'd hate to have our best man missing in the event she goes into labor.

Oi vey. tempted to find a wedding planner to just take into account our budget, and schedules and I just show up. haha

My husband & I got married at a church in Sacramento that had a recpetion hall as well. His parents were memebers so they did not charge us, but you should look into it, I don't think it would have cost very much either way!

    Good luck :)

Maybe check out a local Art Gallery and have a small cocktail reception. Have a ordainded minister do the ceremony. Should be a gret time.

What about McKinley Parks Rose Garden?  I'm not sure how much it is but it is beautiful.

    Fees and Deposits

The wedding fee is $140 per (3) three-hour time block. A damage deposit in the amount of $100.00 is required.
