RSVP Question

My deadline day is still not for another week and a half, so no rants about that (YET lol), but I did have an odd RSVP that I am not quite sure how to handle.  One of our guests RSVP'd yes, but that they had another reception to go to and would be at ours "later after dinner."

I can't really put into words the question I have...I should still put them in the seating chart...yes? Do I put them into the final count for meals just in case? With the prices we are paying, of course I would rather save where I can - but, what if they arrive earlier than expected?  I am not too worried about the empty seats during dinner as they are large tables so it SHOULDNT be a big deal.

I can appreciate there being more than one wedding on one day, so I am not at all upset about it, I just don't know how to handle the seating/meal/bar/whatever.  A little advice would be appreciated :)

Re: RSVP Question

  • I don't know about your caterers but my venue makes extra meals just in case, if you use them then you are charged for them, however if you do not use them you do not pay for them.I would set the places but not count them for a meal. Since they said after dinner I would assume they do not plan on eatting, but maybe just ask them to verify

  • maybe a good opportunity to talk to them...I have found that all the WR stuff gives me good reasons to pick up the phone and have a conversation with them...we are so busy, I sometimes feel like we are neglecting everyone because were trying to get the wedding stuff done, so...it might be a good reason to call and ask them more in detail what their plans are, so you can plan for them appropriately.  If they are just coming for drinks and dancing, you may not need to have a designated place for them if they are "dropping in" later........or after talking to them, you might decide you need a place setting for them.......

  • I would call them and confirm what the deal is.

  • I would call them and ask them what their plans are/what their RSVP means.  That's really the best way to determine your course of action and it will be one determined by having the facts and not making assumptions.
  • If they said "later after dinner" I would not include them in the food count but definetly have a place for them at a table for later. like PP said caterers make extra so it should be a-okay :)
