  • I will probably move it to my right hand also.

  • I'm wearing mine as my something blue (I have a sapphire as the main stone), but I can't decide if I should wear it on my right hand so the wedding band will be on the inside or to have the wedding band on the outside.

I plan on wearing it on my right hand and then after FI puts my wedding band on, the officiant will have FI move the e-ring to my left hand and say something like, "The e-ring is the promise and the wedding ring is the commitment. You keep the e-ring over wedding ring so the promise holds the commentment in and protects it."

ETA - Or now that I think of it maybe I will put it in the ring box with the rest of the rings.

  • I hadn't even thought about this!  My e-ring is too small for my right hand!  My right "ring" finger is seriously a size and a half bigger than the left.  My MOH has tiny hands maybe she can wear it during the ceremony.  I'm so glad you posted this.  I wouldn't have thought about it.

  • I'm wearing mine on my left hand and just switching the band and e-ring positions after the ceremony.  I already have a right hand ring and I don't want to not wear it.
  • Oh wow, something else I never thought about. My e-ring also does not fit on my right hand at all. We also did not get a ring custom made to fit with my e-ring (hopefully down the road). As weird as it will feel maybe I will just leave it home, so I will not have to worry about it getting lost.

  • Same as Erica. My e-ring doesn't fit on my right hand (right hand is over a size bigger) and my e-ring is too small to fit on anyone else. I'll just switch the positions after the ceremony.

  • Honestly, wherever it fits, I'll wear it. My fingers are all really weirdly sized and vary a lot, so I'm not trying to worry TOO much about the tradition of that. I'll move it to another finger, but if it's also on my left hand, or if it's a pinky finger, or whatever, then whatever works.

  • I wasn't reading the replies closely enough, and am so glad I'm not the only one with inconsistently sized fingers and hands!

  • I'll probably give it to my mom or MOH to hold on to.  I'd really like to wear the ring my grama gave me on my right hand.

  • My wedding band is a jacket, so I'll have to be without my e-ring until FI puts it back on at the ceremony.  I may hold on to it until the very last minute and have the best man come up and get it before the ceremony begins.

  • I'll be putting it on my right hand. My right hand ring finger is about 1/2 a size larger but I'll make it work!

  • It will not fit on my right hand, so I will probably give it to my mom to hold.
  • Wearing mine where it normally is.

  • Mine fits on my right hand so that is where I will put it. I mentioned that to FI this weekend at a wedding and he looked at me like I was nuts until I pointed out that that was exactly Wjat the bride did at the wedding!
  • Moving it to my right hand.

  • During the ceremony, I'll move my ring off my ring finger to my pinky. Then, when Fi puts the wedding band on, he can just go one finger over and place the engagement ring on next to it. Easy peasy.

  • FI will be wearing a necklace that I bought him for our 7 year anniversary. He wants to put my engagement ring on his necklace for the ceremony.

  • My engagement ring will leave me in about 3-4 weeks...and then I wont get it back until the ceremony.  FI got me a rign wrap...since the original engagement ring diamond was smaller than he wanted, but didn't want to wait any longer to ask me to marry him!!!  He decided to add a few diamonds and get a wrap......SO...he will take my engagement ring and have them soldered together!!!!!  I will get it back at the ceremony!!!

  • Leaving it on my left hand. FI will just put the band on during the ceremony with my ering still on my left hand. I'll switch the positions after the ceremony. I just tried putting my ering on my right finger...I didn't want to slide it over the knuckle because I'm afraid it won't come off. My ring is sized perfectly to my left hand so it won't fit anywhere else. Plus it feels weird to me to wear my ring on my right hand lol.

  • Not sure.  Just tried putting my e-ring on my right ring finger and it doesn't fit well.  I might have FI put it in his suit pocket and I'll put it on after the ceremony.

FI just saw this post and he is like why not just keep it on? they fit together...

I see his point LOL I also like one of the PP ideas of having him put it on after the wedding ring... sealing in the commitement and love etc.
  • I never even thought of this! It doesn't fit on my right hand, so I'll have to figure something out. I might just leave it and switch post ceremony or have my MOH hold onto it until after and put it on then.
