Yellow Gold Rings, match earrings??

I was telling FI I was going to look at earrings today for the wedding. He asked what was wrong with all of mine. I told him I wanted to get white gold earrings to match my dress better. He said but you have yellow gold rings. What do u think would look better? Yellow gold earrings or white gold/silver?

I am on my phone so I can't do a pic, but my dress is blinged out from my waist up. It's Maggie Sottero's Victorian if u want to go look. There is no gold on the dress whatsoever.

Thoughts?

Re: Yellow Gold Rings, match earrings??

  • That's a hard one. I think I would want to match the dress with any necklaces or earrings even if my band is yellow gold. The ring and the earrings won't be concentrated on in the same pictures. So if they don't match I think that's fine. I'm glad I don't have this problem! All my stuff is white gold/silver and my dress is accented in silver.

  • It is tough! I thought of it as if I was going out I try to wear the same metals, but the new thing is mixing and matching metals. I don't have much of anything else bc my ears have a bad reaction to anything not gold. Errr. I didn't think about the pics being concentrated on different things, so that might work.

  • Typically all the same color jewelery looks best. I would match the wedding ring. Think about photos that close up your hands on fi's shoulder yellow gold ring white gold earrings.....
  • I think that yellow gold and white gold look fine next to each other.  I think that the white gold earrings (and necklace if you do one) would look better with the dress - which is GORGEOUS by the way.

My ring is white gold and all of my wedding jewelry is pearl and goldish/champagne. It looks better with my dress.  I would say match your jewelry with your dress rather than your ring.
  • I Would definitely match to your dress. You don't need to worry about matching metals...it's not a big deal anymore at all.

Fishin, we have the same dress!! haha. Since I know exactly what you're talking about, I definitely think that white gold will go better, but my ER has both white and yellow gold in it. I don't think it will be bad for the rings to be yellow and the rest to be white.

  • Match your dress if you can.  Its funny how things change...when I was younger (I'm 40), it was a huge faux pas to have jewelry that did not match.  Now, it seems that people don't give two hoots and wear whatever they like.  Ahhh, I guess its the same as the old thing to not wear white after labor day.  lol.

I also have a yellow gold E-ring, but I don't like it.  My band will be white gold, FI's will be as well, and I won't be wearing my e-ring.  I'm not even going to wear it on the wedding day.

In the end, it doesn't matter what you will be wearing, you'll look beautiful no matter what!!

  • I wouldn't worry about matching the metals either.  No one is going to look at you and say that your earrings don't match your ring, and I doubt it'll even be noticeable in pics.  In some of my e-pics my platinum e-ring looks gold because it was reflecting the sun.

  • Of course I just thought about the fact that I'm going to be wearing light gold shoes with the dress....and all my jewelry will be while gold...lol. Oh well!!
