Nails??

What are you all doing for your nails??  I don't want tips or anything so I'm just going with my natural short nails.  I want something pretty but not cheesy or over the top.   I was originally dead set on the doing the Caviar manicure in white but honestly, I cannot STAND them on my nails and it doesn't stay on no matter what you do.

Re: Nails??

  • I think I'm going to get fake nails. No idea what kind. I've never done it before.

  • I am going to do a Shellac manicure...if done correctly and I put emphasis on correctly it can last up to three weeks without chipping.  I have gotten it done in some places where they rush it and after one-week it chips but recently went to a different place who took their time and did it perfectly, It's coming up on two weeks without a chip.  They make your nails stronger and they can do lots of different colors including a french manicure.  It's not tips so your nails are your own length...I suggest starting it a month before so that your nails even grow a little before your application before the wedding...its not that costly either, $20-$30 depending on your location.

I am getting my nails (fingers and toes) done the day before the wedding. My sister/MOH bought me a gift certificate to get them done for my shower gift. I am just getting a polish (probably a pale pink, like pictured below). I prefer more natural nails to fake nails or tips (and FI hates fake nails with a passion).

    ETA: picture attached now!

  • I am torn between the gel/shellac mani, and just doing a regular mani. I have a beautiful Chanel color that I love that I want to have on my nails, but sometimes it chips quickly, so the shellac or gel might be better. I haven't fully decided yet!!

I'm getting tips for the wedding day. It's going to be a french manicure but I feel like when I get a normal manicure without tips, it only lasts for a few days. I don't really like the feeling of fake nails so much, but it looks better on me IMO and will last longer.

ETA: The kind of tips I'm getting will most likely be gel. I've never had them but my bestfriend swears by them

  • I am just going to paint them the morning of the wedding or the night before.  I have never had fake nails and I like my own so I have been trimming them regularly and using nail strengthener so they should be all set to look nice.  I haven't decided on the color.  Originally I was going to do a light pink but then I jumped to green and now I am thinking turquoise so I have no idea.

I really hate fake nails but they look so much nicer on my hands than my natural nails.  I'll probably just suck it up and get short tips with a french manicure.

I wore the color Bmore posted for my MOH's wedding in April and got SO many compliments on it!

  •  I'm having a French manicure on my natural nails and probably a red on my toes.  FMIL wants to treat all the ladies, probably on the Thursday before (wedding is on a Saturday).

I'm not a fan of fake nails; though the polish tends to last longer, they look too thick and not natural for me.  But I've always been able to grow my nails out quickly, so it would probably be a different story if I couldn't.  I've also found that my hair and nails grow even faster since I started taking multi-vitamin with biotin (just an extra tip for anyone who has trouble with theirs!).
  • I'm getting a gel french manicure. I got them done a week and a half ago so that I was sure they'd do a good job. They look really good so I'm just going to keep filling them until the wedding.

  • Gel/Shellac manicure. I hate when my nails chip so this is the best option for me. Plus I want my nails to be red (one of my wedding colors).

<div>I am in the same boat. I really just want to get a regular mani with one of the pretty colors I have but I am afraid it won't last through the honeymoon because I am a nervous biter :( I may just go with Shellac. Problem with Shellac is that when it chips it tends to tear off in large pieces and I woundn't be able to fix that while on the honeymoon. I can't decide!</div>

  • Regular polish doesn't stay on my nails longer than a few hours without chipping.. in fact, this morning I put on some OPI and a 'no chip top coat' and I already have a chip on the tip on two nails.  I am definitely doing gel/shellac - just not sure if I want a french manicure of some kind or a solid color.
  • I am just getting a solar french manicure. I haven't decided on my toes yet.. maybe just a regular french pedicure on them (my natural nails, not fake ones)

If my nails are all a nice length, I plan to have a Shellac french manicure done, and purple toes to match BM dresses. If my nails look horrid, I'll probably try fake short nails. My nails grow out fast, but I'm pretty physical and they break occassionally. What I'd like to do is next time they are all a nice length (right 2 two are lousy), I'll get Shellac nailpolish and hope that makes the nails last until the wedding.

  • I'm trying really hard to grow mine out, none of the salons up here do tips or gels. but I have a regular mani-pedi scheduled the day before.  I'm going for something natural looking because I never paint my nails normally.

Make sure they give you a full manicure (cleaning your cuticles and buffing your nails, all the normal things they would do it they were giving you the normal manicure) before applying the shellac.  Everytime previous to 2 weeks ago (and at different salons) they would basically just start applying the shellac and not giving me a  normal manicure first, I think it really makes a difference...I am on almost two weeks with no chips or lifting.  It's definitely growing out but still looks decent.

  • Going with a shellac manicure. I'm sorry but I think acrylic looks so fake and tacky.
  • I haven't decided but I am trying to grow my nails out and I was thinking gel or shellac I have never done either one but I want to refrain away from acrylic since they ruin your nails.

  • I am so excited to be able to use my own nails! I used to bite them but I've been good and they are long now! So I'll probably do a french manicure, maybe shellac, I haven't decided yet. I just want something neutral but pretty.

</div><div>This exactly. My Shellac manicure costs about $35 but it's so worth it b/c it lasts nearly 3 weeks. I just got one last Friday and plan on getting two more before the wedding. It really  makes your nails grow!!

  • I am asking for a french tip mani and pedi for my birthday.  My birthday is the day before our wedding so I will get them done the week before.  A regular french tip mani and pedi usually lasts a month or so on me.  I might get a color though.  I have not really decided yet.
