DIY Flowers. Looking for a vendor (wholesale fresh flowers)

I'm looking to buy flowers in bulk and arrange them myself the night before or day of.  Anyone out there that's done this that has a vendor they liked?  I'm thinking finding a wholesale vendor would be cheaper than going through a florist and the flowers will be fresher.  Any advice or tips would be appreciated.  My wedding is in August for 100 people in Fairfax, VA.  Thanks!

We're DIYing our flowers and getting them from SAMS club. AMAZING quality. I'm excited to see the end result.

I'm doing the same for my 9/11/2010 wedding and getting them from Potomac Floral Wholesale in Silver Springs, MD.  They have a huge warehouse and they're the ones most if not all florist in the area aquire their stock. They have alarge selection and the flowers were fresh.  Good luck and happy planning.  http://flowerwholesale.com/

I also called Potomac Floral and I would most likely be going with them. They gave me the best quote. I am yet to go there and see their warehouse.
Someone also told me that Costco sells Wholesale flowers so you can check that out too.

    Good Luck!

Ditto Sam's club. They were delivered early in the day before our wedding and the flowers opened up perfectly for our wedding the following evening. I got red roses and red mokara orchids and red tulips. I was very impressed by the quality of the orchids. Make sure you have help on hand. If you are a perfectionist like me, you'll want to try to do everything yourself but my sister and husband were a big help de-thorning the roses and removing the leaves.

I third Potomac Wholesale.  They have lots of different kinds of flowers!  Don't rely on just coming in and picking up what you want though; they might not have it in stock, so definitely order.  Also, make sure that you check the flowers (ie, unwrap them) before leaving when you pick them up.  I've read lots of stories about mold, but they apparently are very good about replacing any bad stems.  My tulips had a little mold inside the flowers, but my mom forgot to check before leaving, and it wasn't at all noticable (I only saw it because I looked really closely since I had read about mold problems).  In fact, I got lots of compliments on my tulips!

Costco does beautiful wholesale flowers too. That's where my sis is getting hers.
