best places to register

Hey guys, I know there is a registry/gift board but i wanted to see your opinions on local stores. Has anyone had any particularly good or bad experiences registering places? Where have you registered?

We registered at Macy's and Crate & Barrel at Montgomery Mall and Bed, Bath, & Beyond in Gaithersburg. The only bad experience we had was at Macy's since there was only one person working in the department and it took us almost an hour to get scanning. The scanner also kept crapping out on us. My friend registered at the Macy's in Tysons and had no problems. I recommend setting up your registry online for any of these stores before you go. That way they can just show you how the scanner works and you can be on your way. It would have saved us a lot of time if we had done this.

Oh ok, but if you register online do you still go in and scan things? Or you mean you got the scanner to see things and add/subtract things off the registry?

We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Macys.  Our experience was faaar better at BBB than Macys though.

We registered at Crate & Barrel and BB&B but liked our Crate & Barrel experience a lot better. Here's a tip do not register at the BB&B in Springfield. Register at C&B during one of their registration events. They hold them before the store opens there are good munchies and the people are there to be helpful but not overbearing.

You just set it up online with your personal info: names, addresses, locations. Then go to the store and tell them you want to update your registry and they'll give you a scanner. You don't have to add stuff online if you don't want to. It just saves the time of filling out forms, then someone typing them into the computer, then explaining how to use the scanner...

oh ok thanks for the tip i think we'll do that! I think i've changed my mind lately and I'm going to register at Crate and Barrel and either Macy's or Target. I'd register at all three but we're only having 100 ppl at the wedding so i don't want to go overboard, although i guess three isn't overboard is it? And there's always the shower too. Hmmm...

We are registered at crate and barrel and william-sonoma.  We may add a third, but I'm not sure where yet.  So far I have no complaints for C&B or WS.  We registered at the C&B in tenleytown, across from AU law school and the WS in friendship heights.

I registered at C&B and Macys. I did C&B all online (but would have gone to a registry event if there had been one scheduled at the time). I went to the Macys at Tysons. We went on a Saturday evening and then to Wildfire for dinner - so made it a little date night. I had a good experience. I've heard the returns at Macys are a pain in the arse, but haven't had to do that yet. My aunts told me about an online site, Nat Schwartz for china, silver and crystal. They are cheaper and faster than the department stores. I put my china on both sites and have gotten several place settings from NS - great so far!

We did Crate & Barrel, Macys, Bed Bath & Beyond and Pottery Barn. I do not recommend Macys but for some reason it was the only registry where we got everything from guests (I think older folks really like shopping there) but it was a nightmare to return/exchange anything with them. We tried returning things at several different Macys and it was not a pleasant experience at all. I still don't know why people shop there. All of these places offer a completion discount. Pottery Barn's discount is good multiple times for several months after the wedding but I think the others only offer a one time completion discount. It was nice to receive a giftcard to Macys with their rewards program. Have fun registering! It was quite an experience for me and my husband. You can let them add anything ridiculous on the registry in the store but take it off when you get home ;)

We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, Macys and Travelersjoy.com which is our honeymoon registry. I agree with (above) that I dont particularly like Macys but for my Bridal shower, its where I got most of my stuff? I dont know why; you'd think BBB b/c its cheaper and more of them around... We went to the Macys at Fair Oaks and it was horrible. There was no registry person and whenever we got emails from her- we'd try to contact her and she'd never be there. We had to go through the woman at Tysons but even when some guests of mine went there, they said that some stuff wasnt' avail there.... I like Bed bath and beyond and i love our honeymoon site! its been great and you can customize it obviously to wherever you are going and to whatever you want. its great- the features are awesome- you can pick everything! I lvoe it !=] <3 If I could go back, I might register at Crate and Barrel maybe instead of Macys. GL!
