Babysitting services in Plymouth Meeting + shuttles??

Hi everyone!
I have two questions if anyone has any suggestions.
1.  I am looking for babysitting services in the Plymouth Meeting area - we have a few out of town guests coming with small children and we are planning on having an adult reception but would love to provide some kind of childcare for them.

2. I know this has been discussed before but has anyone had luck with shuttle services in the area?  We are looking to spend under $500 if possible for a small bus to go from the hotel to the venue a few times. Our hotel only has a large passenger van shuttle.

Thanks for your help!

  • I heard some hotels will provide it. I know someone who had their venue at the presidential and a nearby hotel did. Not sure of the name of the hotel...It *might* have been complimentary too because of blocking off rooms.
  • Can you maybe find someone you know but not someone who is invited to the wedding to babysit? A sister or close female cousin's friends? When a few of my sister's friends got married one of the other friend's sister babysat all the kids. As an OOT guest I would not be comfortable leaving my child with a stranger that even the bride & groom did not know.

  • You can go on care.com or sittercity.com and post what you're looking for as far as babysitting services. Just be sure to include all relevant information, such as number of kids, approximate times, and rate you are willing to pay. I'm a nanny and I don't really apply for jobs that don't have that kind of information listed. I've seen plenty of listings for this kind of thing and while I've never applied because I'm always looking for more regular jobs, I know a lot of people go on there looking for one night gigs. Good luck!

  • when is your wedding?
  • if you have any friends who work in a local preschool they've likely all been ck'd out by the FBI and have child abuse clearances, they might know someone they work with who would be interested in doing it.  As someone said, be sure to let people know number and age of kids, where they'll be (hotel room? etc) and what's required as well as payrate.  Good luck!
  • Doubletree suites in Plymouth Meeting has a shuttle that will hold 24 people. They will make two trips from the hotel to the venue and back so 48 people total. Cost is $200. They gave me a room rate of $109/night for a suite.
  • There's a new service called SittersSearch that lets you enter your zip and gives you a list of sitters to choose from w/a variety of skills/ages etc. Couldn't chk and see if they had anyone in Plymouth Mtg since I don't know your zip but hit their website, looks good because you or your guests get to interview and check references so you can feel confident in your choice. Sounds like it would be worth checking out. You can read about it here too:
http://theweddingqueen.blogspot.com just look along the right side for a list of posts about it. I have nothing to do w/this company, but am thinking about using them for my wedding.  We're going to have a two conneted hotel rooms for the kids and their sitters, maybe sending up chicken fingers and milk and some wedding cake.

  • Good to know at Doubletree--they quoted me $400 for the shuttle.
