Beach Rentals

Hello again,

I'm trying to figure out where to rent seats for my beach ceremony.  Does anyone know of a place that has wooden benches that are STAINED and not painted white???

I was just going to say metro rentals.... and then I saw that you said not painted white. Hmm. Did you check metro rentals? I'll keep my eyes peeled for ya

That's what we wanted as well and couldn't find anyplace that rented just plain stained benches.  My BIL and DH ended up making them and we stained them ourselves.

Laura, how many people did you seat and how much did it cost to make your own? ...you don't have to answer if you don't want to share that!  My dad's good at making things, but I just didn't know if it would be worth it money-wise (plus transporting them from Pittsburgh).  Thanks!

I am originally from Pittsburgh, however I have been living in NC near the OBX for 10 years now.  Congrats on your wedding. 

Check out ocean atlantic event rentals.  Here is the link:  http://www.oarevent.com/details.php?id=417. It states that they are wooden benches, but I do not know if they are stained or painted white.  They also have wood pews which definately appear to stained.

No worries, I don't mind!  We made 4, 8 foot benches.  I believe 5-6 people sat on them.  We had 45 people total including us.  I think about 22 people sat down, 9 were in our WP so they were standing, and us.  So we had roughly 10-12 standing in the back.  Which worked out fine.  I think materials for the benches, including the stain was about $80-$100.  Sorry I can't remember exactly.  We got married in Hatteras so there was a hefty travel fee on top of the rental fee for us so it worked out to be much cheaper to make them ourselves.  It worked out that my BIL has a trailer so we used that to transport.  We had so much stuff to take with us though that we would have taken the trailer anyways.  Guess it could get pricey to rent one but if someone has a pick-up truck that is going that would probably work also.

Thanks, jlbmousie!  I did check out OAR through Renee Landry, who helped stain the church pews... but at $75 a pop to set up each pew, I would be spending almost $1,000 to rent seats!  Ah!  I'm going to verify that price with them, but if they won't negotiate, then I'm going to have to find something else.

And thanks Laura for your help!  $80-$100 for all of those benches is a great deal (I think the white benches are $30 or so a piece just to rent).  I looked through your pics and they looked great too!  Sidenote, it's funny that my bridesmaid dresses are almost exactly the color your girls wore... and I love ([the Steeler side of) your garter! :-) Did you make that or buy it?  Thanks again!

No problem, I hope you find what you are looking for.  I LOVE the hot pink color, so great choice!  I bought my garter custom made off of etsy.   They have some really cool ones on there.  My hubby was a Steeler's fan (and Raven's just not when they played the Steeler's)  and I'm a Raven's fan so it worked out great.  Now he likes the Raven's better, go figure.

Oh, and heres a few pictures that aren't in my married bio, so you can get a feel for the set-up.







and now that I'm looking at them it seems a lot more people stood up so they could take better pictures and what not.
