reception sites?

Does anybody have any suggestions for reception sites in Louisville? We're looking for somewhere that is reasonably priced. Would you recommend looking into a school or church gym or something along the lines of a hotel venue? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Try some of the local parks, restaurants and club event halls. I had my reception at Sawyer Hayes Community Center and that was great. Before then I looked at the German American club, Lebanese American club, and different community centers in Louisville.

What kind of budget do you have for the reception and the food?

We're definitely looking for the cheapest option right now. We already have a caterer. We really don't want to go more than a few hundred for the reception site itself.

    Thanks for the input!

Is your caterer licensed?  Most places require a licensed caterer, and they might even have a list of approved caterers.  I will compile all of the rates I put together over the last few months for my wedding, and try to give you a list of locations and their rates.  I will try to include their catering policy.

Here are the only things I had found for a couple hundred dollars

Louisville Metro Parks   $150 (that was quoted to me for a wedding ceremony)
Waterfront Park $200 + $300 refundable security deposit
Jeffersonville Elks Club $350 for up to 99 people + food (they make the food)
Broad Run Vineyards $500/4 hours for 50 people- bring your own food
Jim Miller Hall $500 bring your own food
    Green Building $650/4 hours
Camp Carlson- Ft. Knox- $500 bring your own food

    Here is the rest:
    Frazier Museum $1800 + food
Masterson's Catering- no room fee- must buy food
21c Hotel $300 room- must spend at least $5000 on food
Muhammad Ali- rooms range from $750-$6000
Seelbach Hilton- $8000-$12000 in food sales
Wooded Glen $535/2 hours  $250 each additional hour
    Kavanaugh Life Center- $1000
    Sheraton Hotel- $2000
Falls of the Ohio- $700  does not include tables or chairs
Huber Winery- min. of $30 per person
    Gingerwoods- $1800
    Mellwood- $995
Horseshoe Casino- no room fee- food minimum depending on number of guests
    Sawyer Hayes- $1200
Old Medical School Bldg- $300- $1100 depending on day and room- bring own food
For example, if you use the museum room on Sunday, it is only $300 and you can bring your own food.
If you use the Walnut room on Saturday it is $900 but you can bring your own food... here is the website http://www.louisvillerentalfacility.org/rates/

UofL conference center- $150-$750 per day depending on the space/room you need.  They provide the catering.  http://louisville.edu/conferenceservices/facility-rental/pricing.html

Some of these rates are for Saturdays and some are for Sundays, if you know which day you are interested in and if you are interested in any of the facilities listed above, I might be able to give you some more specific information.

    I hope this helps!

I just wanted to drop a note saying that Sawyer-Hayes has raised their rate for 2011 to $1600 and $200 for wedding. I contacted her this weekend and was kind of disappointed to hear this.

Anchorage Ballroom was around $600-900. . .It depended on the number of people you had invited, but it was gorgeous.

I'm using Kaden Towers, it's 900.00 for the entire day 8am to midnight. You can use your own caterer or bring it in yourself.  They have 80 black chairs and 10 banquet tables that you can use. They have a small kitchen with a stove and frig, private entrance in the back with plenty of parking.
