Mother of the Bride Dress

Hi ladies,

I live east of Toronto and my mother is having the worst time finding a dress. She wants to stay under $300, and she is trying to find a store where she can go and put on the dress, buy it and leave with it.

I'm willing to make a day trip to Toronto, but I'd like to know if there are any stores like this that are worth checking out. My mom doesn't love the idea of ordering something she hasn't seen and tried on, and by the time she finds a dress she likes it will be too late to order it (the wedding is in 4 months).

Any suggestions?

Laura / Laura Petites / Laura Plus and Melanie Lyne have lots of dresses and I'd be willing to bet that she could find something at one of those stores. Most major malls should have them.

My mom and I went across the border to the Walden Galleria Mall near Buffalo. They have a Macy's with a HUGE dress department and everything was under 200 dollars. And the cdn/usd exchange is great right now.

I had to take my mom across the border as well,  and since the exchange rates are so great - we had nothing to lose.

She ended up finding 2 dresses, she loved (one for the ceremony and one for the reception and photos).

We went to David's Bridal (the nearest one is in Amherst - closer than driving to Walden - but yes the Macy's there has a fantastic dress section).  And she ended up getting her other dress at TT NY (there's a location right at the Fashion Outlets a stone throw from the Queenston/Lewiston border) Prices at both stores were very reasonable - recommend TTNY more, as the selection of MOB dresses at David's was slim.

Althougher my mom sent 300 for 2 dresses!  Not bad at all!

my mom got her dress at Nordstroms.  The best part about American stores is that you  can look online thru their dresses to see if you like anything.

most of the wedding dress stores have traditional MOB dresses.  My mom wore a bridesmaid dress to my sisters wedding.

My mom bought her dress at Bridal and Beyond and she was able to get it that same day. She didn't want anything too sparkly and puffy and found a great one. Everyone completed her on the dress at the wedding.
