Casa Loma?

My sister has just got engaged, and we are in the process of looking at some venues. She has always wanted to get married at Casa Loma, but we've never been there for a wedding, and don't know anyone who has been there either.

Have you had your wedding there? Or been there for a wedding? Or even heard any stories about Casa Loma weddings? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

A casa loma wedding would be beautiful - however I know it is pricey and there is a long waiting list (think years) for summer dates at least.  The gardens are lovely!  I would call them now and look into it right away! :)

My best friend got married at Casa Loma a couple of years ago. The grounds are beautiful. The waiting list is significantly shorter if you choose a Friday wedding (that's how my friend did it). The food is great, and you can't beat the ambiance of the place. The only issue is that it is not air conditioned - so it might get really hot. We were lucky. It was a perfect early July day. The nice thing is that the main room is off a wonderful patio, so a breeze comes in. The other pluses are that you can bring in your own alcohol, which would save you a TON of money. Let us know how it works out!

The PP posted mentioned what I feel is the biggest drawback to the venue - no air conditioning.  Otherwise, I've heard it is lovely.

Thanks for the responses! My sister is looking at Oct 2011, so I think with the no air conditioning, that would be a perfect time of the year.

My grandparents got married at Casa Loma in October in 1951, so I think it's just perfect! I'm so excited for her. They are both deceased now, but it will be so neat to be there for her wedding, knowing this is the exact same spot my grandparents were married.

It's so beautiful there in the fall - the pics will turn out amazing!

As per PP the air conditioning thing would be my only hesitation but since it's in oct, no need to worry about that!

Awww - I love that there is history to the place for your family.  Like I mentioned - check it out early, but October is a good idea with the no air conditioning issue.  I've been there at Christmas to see all the decor and it is even beautiful then!

I went to a wedding there and almost died in the summer because of how hot it was!

I would def call very very soon as dates (both fall and summer) book up fast!

We never considered Casa Loma because of the noise restriction issues. Since it is so close to homes (right within a residential area), everyone needs to actually leave the venue by midnight, maybe 12:30 at the latest (obviously ask them at the venue for the exact time before you book!!) .  I know some weddings that have had everyone leave at this time and then take a bus to an "after-party" but that's not something that we wanted to deal with.

I've been to an event there (not a wedding) and in the spring the temperature was just fine, the location was beautiful, and the food was excellent - BUT, as mentioned, it had to shut down earlier than I think people would have wanted which sucked, and you are also restricted on how early you can start as well so you can't just push the whole thing up. I think this would be a great location for a Sunday wedding, when you don't expect people to stay as late.
