Regardless we'll be traveling for our wedding... I am hoping to have the priest from my old parish marry us. I love my old church but it's huge and I won't be having a huge wedding... so I was looking at chapels. The diococese does not post anything against using chapels in that area (I know some do).
One I am looking at used to be on a military base and it was a formal military chapel. Now it's run by an event center but it's still a chapel.
Are there any restrictions from having a catholic marraige ceremony there? Is there a question I should be asking them or my priest (who we are hoping to meet with in a couple weeks). We may or may not be doing communion (still TBD).
Re: Wedding in a chapel
I've been to three weddings at the chapel on the Navy base in Newport, R.I.
Two Catholic, on non denominational. They were all cousins of mine and their dad was in the Navy. I don't know if it can be used by civilians or not.
You can always ask.
our church easily holds 400 or so. we had 75 in attendance. its perfectly fine to have a large church with a small wedding.
