FOCCUS Test

So my Fi and I took the FOCCUS test on June 2nd and we haven'y heard back yet.  Does it normally take this long to hear back from the priest to discuss the results?

When we took ours, we made an appointment to review it with our priest. He made sure to evaluate it before our appointment. You may want to call your parrish and see what their usual situation is.

For us it did, actually.  We took ours in August and didn't go over it until January.  I don't think it actually took that long to get the results back, but depending on how long your engagement is, the priests sometimes take their time.  My engagement will be 13 monthts, so my priest wasn't in a hurry to get everything done last summer and fall, you know?  I think  that if you haven't heard from him by the end of the month, I think it would be appropriate to call the priest to ask when you can expect to go over it.   Hope that helps!

Our priest went ahead and scheduled our next meeting the same night we took the FOCCUS, I think it was for about a month later.  If you haven't heard from him in a couple of weeks, I would call and ask about when you need to schedule your next get together.

We took it in late August and went over it in December.

Just a note for anyone lurking...FOCCUS is not a test, but an assessment/communication tool. You cannot fail it. Instead, it will highlight places where you and your fiance need to talk or might not be on the same page. There are a handful of questions relating to physical abuse, substance abuse, etc., that can be flagged for further investigation.

The Priest we dealt with sent us home to take the FOCCUS and said to contact him once we had finished it and my fiance was baptized.

We got out results the same day we took it. He just went over and put it through a little scanner thing and we had it...

I think it took at least a month for us to get our results back.  It was also a matter of coordinating with our sponsor couple to pick a time to go over it!

Ours took a while too, but we were told that if the preist didn't contact us in a month then we should call him and set up a meeting time.  So I would call and see what's up )

We took ours in October and met with our sponsor couple in March to go over it.  At our parish, the sponsor couple only works with one engaged couple at a time.  So, they wait until the wedding is closer.  Our wedding was in April.

Thanks ladies.  I'm going to wait until it has been a full month, though that is in about a weeks time.  The only reason why I'm worried is because I've heard that depending on the answers, the priest can actually not marry you and I know that I misinterpreted a question, a huge question.

<div>I don't think that's actually true.  The point of the test is to find important areas where YOU AND FI need to have more communication.  The same thing happened to H and me on several questions, where one of us read a question one way, and the other read it another way.  The meeting after your test will cover all these areas where you either disagreed widely or said something that raised a flag.  You can't actually "fail' the FOCCUS.</div>
