Shopping for THE DRESS

Hey everyone,

I will be headed back to York for Christmas break after finals, and I think I'm going to start looking for dresses while I'm home.  I have really only ever looked for Prom and Homecoming dresses, so I'm not really familiar with where to look for wedding dresses.  Does anyone have and recommendations for good places to look?

    I got my dress from Renaissance Bridal downtown York. I dealt directly with the owner. It has been a very pleasant experience so far. My dress has not yet come in, so I can not speak about their alterations or anything like that.

    I've been very pleased with my dress from David's Bridal (Harrisburg), and they definitly fit into my budget, including alterations. They also have a really wide variety, which was nice in the initial stages of dress shopping.

    They are not in York, but you could try Weddings by Paulette in Millersville. My daughter purchased her gown and bridesmaids there. They have a nice selection, and the staff was helpful.

    I bought my dress from Lila's Bridal in York.  I had a great experience picking out my dress and with the alterations, HOWEVER, I was disappointed when I picked up my dress after the alterations were done because they also clean & press the dres.  I didn't notice the burn mark on the dress until a couple days later and by then we were leaving the next day for our DW so I had no time to take it back and complain.  It was a faint burn mark but it was on the dress and on the front (the material was taffata...sp?). I'm still a little ticked when I think about it...but you can't see it in the pictures and everyone kept telling me that only I could see it cause I knew it was there.  My recommendation is to carefully look over your dress at the final pick-up.  GL!

    I purchased my dress from Lilla's Bridal and I would request that you work directly with Lilla.  I had a poor experience with another salesperson there.

    I'm ordering bridesmaid dresses from Premiere Bridal in Shiloh/Dover and they have been great to work with.
