reception and ceremony suggestions

I am recently engaged and planning a long engagement due to finishing up school and reasons like that.  I am asking for suggestions on wedding reception and ceremony sites anywhere in the area that people have good experiences with.  I currently have looked at Drumore estates, Riverdale manor, and Stone Mill Inn.  Also if anyone has anything to say about these three sites that would also be appreciated.  Thanks all

some good things for you to tell us to be able to help (i know its early in your planning stage) but do you want indoor or outdoor or both? how many guests (about)? do you have a radius (15 miles from lancaster, etc)? do you want the wedding and ceremony at the same site or separate? what time of year?

We had our ceremony and reception at the Stone Mill Inn and had a wonderful experience. There are pictures and a review in my bio. Let me know if you have any specific questions!

Stone Mill Inn is fantastic, as long as you don't have too many in your guest list.  We are getting married at Royal Manchester Golf Links... You should check it out... The contact person is Sue Diaz... sueadamsdiaz@gmail.com

Here's their website... let me know if you have anymore questions!

I'd second mb's comment about the Stone Mill Inn. With 100 people, we put 8-9 people per table (I wouldn't try to fit 10, or even 9 adults), tables for our stations menu, and a dance floor, and there was enough room. They'll tell you you can fit 200 people, but I honestly wouldn't recommend going over 125-150 max.

It would also be helpful to know your budget! We're getting married at Heritage Hills at the outdoor ceremony site and having our reception in the Windows Terrace room (it's an all glass room that overlooks the golf course).  I would recommend checking out HH because they can accomodate different price ranges depending on what you're looking for.

I also looked at Drumore Estates. I would stay away from there unless you have a BIG budget. Also, I agree that if you're planning on having over 100-120 people, the Stone Mill Inn will be tight.

    Other places I checked out:
Perfect Settings and A Taste of Style (Columbia PA)-you can rent an outdoor ceremony site such as Breezy View Overlook (5-10 min drive from ceremony site to either reception site).

Lime Spring Farms- Lancaster, PA - beautiful but a little pricey since you have to rent everything seperately.

The Eden-very nice staff and good pricing. I've heard great things about the food. Depends on if you want all indoor and ballrooms though.

Royal Manchester Golf Links- MB can tell you, it's a great place! We almost got married here, but none of the dates we liked were available.

    HTH!

We got married at the Lodge at Blue Ridge Summit near Waynesboro. It's a bit out of the area that your other three locations are but definitely worth it.  We're in the Hbg area and looked at a lot of locations in Lancaster, Harrisburg, and York and couldn't find all in one with our budget.  Just a suggestion but the other locations you've mentioned, especially Riverdale is beautiful!

Was recently at a wedding at Riverdale Manor. Very pretty place with lots of good photo opportunities. However, I was told by the couple that they charge per item on the menu instead of per person and I know their wedding was pretty costly.

My fiance and I are holding our ceremony at the Harrisburg state capitol in the main rotunda and it's free!! (We just have to rent chairs) It's absolutely gorgeous inside...can't beat it. We also chose to have our reception at the Harrisburg Holiday Inn East because they offer an all inclusive package (open bar, cake, flowers, tax & gratuity, etc.). We are on a tight budget and it seemed to be the cheapest without going the firehall route. Wink Already had our taste test and food was great!
