  • Penny I've never had Indian food either. I don't like spicy food, and isn't a lot of Indian food spicy?

I always request it mild but sometimes it's still hot but other times it is soooo good b/c it's not too spicy hot for me.  MMMMM I can't wait to get it tonight :)

We just order take out from this awesome restaurant by us.

  • Indian food has lots of different types of spices, and sometimes it's spicy-hot but not always. Tikka Masala isn't that spicy as a general rule.

My fiance is OBSESSED with Indian food so I've tried to like it, but I just don't. I don't even like Tikka Masala and that's the tamest of dishes. Fiance gets Chicken Vindaloo probably 2 times a week. He adds extra Birds Eye Chilis in it (he loves spicy).

  • yes that's why you get yoghurt on the side to mix in with it :) mmmmmmmm. some dishes are hotter than others. If you ever try it, chicken tikka masala is absolutely the best meal to try as an Indian food virgin. i don't know anyone who doesn't like chicken tikka.
  • I think Indian people in general like spicy food but there are some things that aren't spicy.

I had a roommate in college who was from Mumbai so when we went to eat she really knew how to order. I never liked indian food until she ordered for me.

Lady--I am so sorry about your dog :(

  • Yeah, I don't know why but I've never been eager to try it. I don't like the way it smells either.

  • We lived in an apartment building where the majority of the occupants were Indian and the smells of their cooking came through our vents EVERY night.  I gagged just walking into the building.  I think that has put it totally off the menu for me.
  • Wow guys, way to post while I'm at lunch!

I'm with B2B, I don't like indian food. I had an indian friend growing up and I would never eat at her house because I didn't like it. Oh and the mom tricked my mom into eating goat once!

About mom's dresses, thats crazy! You should definitly make her return it, the first one was great. I have this argument with my mom all the time. First she bought a dress, then decided she didn't like it anymore, then tried it on again and loved it. Then she lost a ton of weight (40+ lbs and counting!) and had to re-order in a smaller size. Now its still not here and shes back to wanting a different dress. Pretty much every day I have to remind her that she loves her dress.

I want to friend IRL too guys. Whatever happened to out GTG plans? I know TK ate the thread.

And in news with me, I'm really excited because FI apparently went home early from work today but instead of doing nothing he texted me and asked what he needed to do for the wedding! Aparently my crazy talk finally got through to him!

  • I HATE how Indian food smells. fiance's parent's house kind of just smells like permanent Indian food. Be prepared for your clothes to STANK NASTY after you go to an Indian restaurant or grocery store. ick. But it sure tastes good :) bridetobe I think you aer the only person I have ever known who didn't like chicken tikka!!! it's SO GOOD!

we have a new food truck in Indy called Spice Box that makes chicken tikka in crispy wraps with special sauces. OMG it's so good, I want to find them now.
  • I avoided Indian food until college. My FI forced me to try it, and now it's like my favorite kind of food ever (or maybe tied with pizza).

The first dish I started liking was Chicken Korma. It's not spicy at ALL. Dip some naan in it... omg so good.

  • Whoa, slow down girls. I leave for 10 minutes and you're all on page 3 already?!

Like I said, today is clerical day so no students are here. SOMEBODY still threw a stink bomb somewhere around here. Seriously? It stinks. This morning the fire alarm was going off for maybe 15 minutes and nobody went outside. I was busy eating my cereal. No time to go outside. Guess there wasn't a fire after all.

Thanks- my sig is actually one of our e-pics. It was taken before the "sweet" dog took off and dove into a swamp. I was so PISSED after this very picture, haha!

I love to dip naan bread in the masala sauce mmm and I eat it to put out the fire!!  I might need to order yogurt on the side tonight.

  • Oh I like some Indian food, but not the smell. Our previous apartment smelled like it all the time. I started to get sick of the smell and would gag whenever I had to walk in the hallway!

  • I think it's the coriander. I don't like coriander. And I DETEST cilantro with a fiery passion, and I think coriander is related to cilantro. Different tastes, but same aversion.

dramaqueen - Your fiance sounds awesome!

  • B2B - your mom sounds like she's maybe just a tid bit too excited lol. Don't stress over it though you'll still outshine her.

Lady  - Sorry about your dog! I hate when family pets die. It's almost as bad as an actual person.

Everyone else talking about Indian food I want some! I've never had it but have always wanted to try it. I'm a pretty picky eater but fairly adventurous as far as trying new things (doesn't necissarily mean I'll like it Tongue out)

What is everyone doing over the weekend? My bridal shower is tomorrow. I'm nervous and excited. I find it really akward to open presents in front of people...

  • can I change the subject and AW for one second? My MOH sent out my bachelorette party invites and people have started to RSVP and I am SO. EXCITED. We are doing a 2 hour private lap dancing/pole dancing class where we can bring wine and play and then going out to dinner and clubbing. I am most excited for the dance class, though.

but then here comes the vent: (I have mentioned this before but I got in a big of my fight with bridesmaid about it and wanted to complain a bit)
My group of college friends and one of my bridesmaids are ditching, though. I sent out an email asking all three of them for their summer schedules and they all said June 23 would be perfect so I picked June 23 and then a week later all three of them cannot come. I confronted BM about it, told her I was really disappointed that she was ditching, and she said "well it's your own fault we can't come, I ASSUMED that once you found out we couldn't make it, you would change the date." HUH? After we send out the "save the date" email to 20 girls - all of which who are coming besides the 3 of you - it would be a little silly to change the date for you, don't you think?

He is awesome!! I usually have to drag my FI by his collar and strap him on a chair to get him to do WR stuff. He usually doesn't say anything but I can see it in his eyes that he's pouting. What a big baby. I'll drop dead if he asks me if he can do something WR hahahaha! Actually I don't mind doing this on my own now since we've finished all the big stuff and I'm quite enjoying this :)

  • I bought FI's gift today to give him before the ceremony.  I got him a pocket watch from Things Remembered... i really hope he likes it.

Work really sucks today...   come on 5pm. :D
  • B2B - I thought corriander is just the British word for cilantro.

  • I told my mom to return the second dress. Now she's mad at me and now I feel like a b*tch.

    Seriously, can't win.

I am super adventurous with food. I will eat anything once. Except bugs. And sea urchin because fiance tried it and told me not to try it.

Sometimes it is worse than an actual person, IMO. My mom cried a lot more when our dog died compared to when her father died. Pets can become a huge part of our lives and losing them can be as hard or even harder than when a person dies. I still cry about my dog who died over six years ago. She was my baby!

  • butterfly- I WANT to have lap dance lessons or pole dancing lessons! I've heard they're a lot of fun!!! :)

I'm sorry about your friends. Why can't they go now??

  • Butterfly - that totally stinks! I do not understand your BM's rxn at all. She said she COULD go on June 23rd. Oh well, you will have an amazing time anyway. I have always secretly wanted poll dancing lessons haha!

They apparently come from the same plant but aren't the same thing. Cilantro is the leafy aspect and the coriander is the seed? I think? I know they taste different but I despise both of them.

That's a pretty crappy move on your BM part. It would be silly to change now. She'll be the one missing out. FYI my bach party will be the same weekend.

  • mekiakoo - you should come, hahaha!!! it will be fun. I did a pole dancing class once with my MOH and we both LOVED it, so we decided it would be fun for my bachelorette.

they are just being poop-heads. bridesmaid is saying she has to go to her half-brother's graduation party. one girlfriend says she has to work (which annoys me, she lives in Chicago and is a good friend - I traveled up there for her shower AND her bachelorette party AND flew to the Bahamas for her wedding - yet she can't come to either my shower or my bachelorette. boo.).  Other girlfriend has another bachelorette party to go to and is choosing the other friend over me. kind of a sucky feeling. oh well. the girls who are going are all awesome so it will still be fun :)

bridetobe - they have a different taste, I think you right that coriander is the seed from the inside of the plant and the cilantro is the leafy business that gets cut off the plant??
