Where to Shop for Mothers Dresses??

I'm looking for places to take my mom and future mother in law dress shopping for the wedding. I'd prefer to stick to the York or Lancaster area since my mom is in southern York County and his mom is in Harrisburg.  My mom is a plus size and his mom is petite.  They're looking in the $200 range, so no where too expensive.  My mom has already looked at Davids Bridal and Alfred Angelo with no luck.  Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks ladies!

My Mom or future mother in law haven't started looking for my wedding yet. But, I know my Mom got her dress for my sister's wedding three years ago at Simone's in Hanover and she had a good experience with them!

what color of a dress are they thinking/looking for?

my mom just got a basic black dress with a shrug at Macys (our colors were black and cream and it was an evening wedding). it wasnt an offical MOB dress, but she liked it, it looked good, and she can totally wear it again.

if youre looking for a basic color you might be able to get something at a nicer department store. if you want a specific shade, then im no help sorry!

When we went to a bridal show last year we met this lady that works at Creative Elegance Boutique (<~~~Clicky) and they have a great selection and plus size dresses.  They also have a location in York and Lancaster.  I think they are around your mom and FMIL price range but not quite sure.  We never got a chance to go check them out because my mom found a dress.   I agree with checking Macy's, JCPenney's has nice dresses also.

My mother hasn't started looking yet but she is also plus size. I believe she is going to try fashion bug and lane bryant first before she goes to a bridal store.

Thanks for all the suggestions Ladies! I think our moms will probably wear a silver, dark gray or maybe black or purple to go with our purple and silver color scheme. My mom has been checking Lane Bryant and Fashion Bug and department stores, but no luck. I've heard of Creative Elegance and it's on the list of places to check out! I'm also going to take my mom to J & B to look for dresses when my dress comes in there in February. If anyone has any other ideas, keep them coming!

My mom actually found her dress at TJ Maxx! She wanted more of a cocktail dress, instead of a traditional long MOB dress. If you like bargain hunting I would check out TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, etc. You can often find dresses you would see in a department store.

Taylored for You in Mechanicsburg is awesome!  Their customer service is very good and they have a decent selection.  My mom felt very comfortable there picking out a dress.

I agree with Taylored for You! I got my MOB dress from there. Taylor is awesome. Her dresses might be out of your price range though. The ones I tried on were all around $350. She does have small section of sale dresses that are under your budget. Might be worth checking out!
