Cake!

My FI & I are in the process of figuring out where to get our cake from & I'm looking for suggestions! Flying Buttercream is booked for our wedding day, unfortunately (I heard great things about them). We do have a taste testing appointment set up with Spoon Fulla Sugar & Cakertainment. If anyone has experience working with them, let me know how they were :) TIA! Also, we are trying to keep our cake at or under $3 per slice.

We did a tasting with Tres Belle and her cake was really tasty....we liked Flying Buttercream a bit more so we booked with her instead.

We tasted several places but for the price Marilyn's was good (recommended by a friend and her wedding cake was good). She runs about $2/slice

For what we both really wanted we ended up with Bonbonerie which more pricey but it was really delicious!

Also take a look at Servatii's.  They're $3.00-$3.50 a slice, BUT they do NOT charge for additional flavors.  So if you get a 4 flavor cake, it's still just $3 a slice.  Also, they have free tastings and trust me.  A day of free servatii's is worth the time :D

We used Jerry's Cheesecake in Milford if you're looking for something different.  If you're a cheesecake fan- it's seriously the best in the world.  (One of my BMs tasted it for the first time at the wedding and actually just had them overnight a cake to her in GA- she loved it that much!)  They also offer a signature yellow cake as one of your layer options if you don't want all cheesecake- which is what we did.

We used Spoon Fulla Sugar for our favors and had a great experience with them as well.

We did several cake tastings!  We really liked Spoon Fulla Sugar until we found Jeana with Jeana's Great Cakes!!!  Her cake is amazing & her prices are wonderful!  She works out of her home.  www.jeanasgreatcakes.com

We're going with Marilyn's Cakes (someone already gave the website in a post above).  We tasted at a lot a places -- after awhile, everyone tasted about the same unless they were really bad.  At the end of the day, we simply asked ourselves, "How many weddings have we been to where we actually remembered how the cake tasted?"  -- Answer: none.

That was when we decided to go a place that gave us fine cake that looked good and didn't cost a fortune.  Marilyn's cakes are roughly $2/slice for any number of flavors, and we're saving even more money by also doing "kitchen cakes" that work out to under $1/slice.
