Honeymoons!

So, since my FI and I have been talking about getting married the thing iwas MOST excited about (more than the dress, flowers, cake, ANYTHING) was the honeymoon.  I just wanted to go someplace tropical where i didn't have to think about a THING and relax for a good LONNNNGGGG time. 

Last winter on a very cold and blustery day, my FI and I decided on a 10 day cruise to Latin American and the Carribean as just the ticket for a romantic stress free honeymoon!  We are planning to swim with the sting rays in grand cayman, go to a private island inLabadee, Haiti; Enjoy the Panama Canal, Kayake in Costa Rica, and explore the fortress in Cartagena, Columbia!! All in our private room with an ocean view (hopefully to be upgraded sa promised by royal carribean!).   Literally, the thought of this fantastic vacation in december is what is getting me through the stressful moments of being a bride...SOOOO....I want to know about YOUR honeymoon.  Where are you going and why?  If you haven't booked yet where are you planning to go?

This is also probably my favorite thing about the wedding!   Haven't booked yet, Although its on my to do list this week or next!  BUT we are planning on doing a week in the Dominican Republic...Punt Cana, at Dreams All Inclusive.  Heard good things so far, and we wanted something we didn't have to think about , but had the option to do the excursions.  I don;t mind sitting by the pool part of the time, but FI and I are pretty adventurous so we wanted to mix that in too.

We went on a crusie to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Isla Roatan and Costa Maya (was supposed to be Belize.... If you can swim with the dolphins and do stingray city in Grand cayman I HIGHLY recomend it. DH and I had a blast.

We are spending a month in Europe. Still working on the travel agenda, but  the rough draft is longer stays in turkey, greece, and italy and quick stops in paris, zurich and london. We can't wait!!

Being as how we're both teachers we have to wait until February break, but we are going to Antigua.  I cannot wait to escape the cold and lay on the beach.  I really really want to go zip lining, but I'm going to have to convince the hubs to go.

My FI and I choose non-tropical. We are going to DC because we love history. I haven't been since I was little and FI has only gone a couple of times. Hopefully we will have some beautiful cool weather. In 6 days I'll be there. Can't wait!

belize was awesome. i went on an excursion to the ruins. it's a long bus ride but it's really interesting. everything else was eh, but i'm not a big fan of mexico anyway.

Like Nicole, DH and I didn't want to do the tropical thing.  We are both from FL our entire lives so we wanted to go to the cold weather.    We actually went to the mountains of Santa Fe, NM.  It was awesome!  We took a few day trips around to see all the historic sites.  We hiked up the side of a mountian that was on an indian reserve that was hundreds of years old.  

We were hoping to see snow since DH has never seen it before.  Two days after we left, they got 12 inches of snow.  Go figure!  We still had a great time tho

Tara,  Your honeymoon WILL be SOOOO awesome.  It took me about 3 days to decompress from everything from the wedding but then it was soooo amazing.  I think the honeymoon is the best part of the wedding because the wedding is over so quick!  Then you realize that you have an entire vacation ahead of you.  Best invention ever. 

My honeymoon was ridiculous.  People need to live like we did at least once in a lifetime.  All inclusive, 5 star restaurants, cocktails were brought to your hand if you didn't have one, massages everyday in front of the ocean.  FI and I ended up buying a time share there.  We actually asked to go to a presenation when we didn't have to.  Now we HAVE to go back   woohoo!  We went to El Dorado Casitas Royale on the Riveria Maya.  We had a BLAST!

CMeyer, that honeymoon looks and sounds amazing! That is exactly what we want, we want it be fun but also relaxing and to be waited on so we don't have to lift a finger.  I sound like such a brat, but I don't care.  This has been a stressful year for us and this will be a much needed break!

We are going to Belize in April (our Spring Break, both teachers). My parents gave us their timeshare for the week. If you ever watched Temptation Island, we are staying at the Captain Morgan Retreat, where the show was filmed, http://belizevacation.com. We have to take a very small plane from the mainland to the island, which I am not looking forward to because I hate small planes.
