Dress Fittings

I have a couple of questions. When did you guys start your dress fittings? My dress fit perfectly off the rack in January and I have not gained/lost weight. I only need to get the bottom hemmed and the bustle. However I am having a bear of a time finding shoes. I have a couple of pairs ordered, but not delivered yet. My wedding is September 18. This Saturday is the 6 week mark when most people recommend initial fittings. But my shoes will not be in yet? What have your experiences been with fitting timelines.
Second question: I bought my dress at Brides by Demetrio's. I know of a good private seamstress. As far as quality and cost does anybody recommend the in-house seamstress or a private seamstress. I have heard that in-house seamstress are sometimes more money. Regarding private seamstresses, anybody have any recommendations.
Thanks!

I am getting married Oct. 10th and I am going to my first fitting this Saturday with my shoes.  You will almost always pay more in house for alterations than going to a private seamstress it seems.  Many of the girls on here (including myself) are using a woman named Daisy for alterations.  She's in the Brandon area.  I am in St. Pete, but I've heard such good things about her for the past year that I trust the girls on here and am going to her.  I've seen her work on other girls dresses and her prices are great!  I would highly recommend her.  Here's her # 813-246-4630 GL!

Thanks!. I am in St. Pete as well. There is a seamstress Stella's Alterations & Bridal on 16th St. N. and 38th Ave N. I have used her for non-bridal gown alterations and she did a great job. But I have heard such good things about Daisy as well. I should check her out.
