You went to their wedding.... but they don't come to yours??

It really stinks when I’ve made efforts to go to my friends weddings (ALL of which I have traveled by long car ride or plane, plus hotel expenses, plus a gift). And they are not coming to mine (which would require equal amount of travel). Also, many of these friends have also had kids by now and if I was unable to attend their shower, I always sent a gift. SOME of these friends haven’t even sent their RSVPs back so I just sent an email out to remind them to kindly send them back to me. Some answers I got back “Opps, I forgot, sorry can’t make it”.  Wish I could rewind time and not made the efforts for them either.

Yup, it sucks.  Nothing you can do but bitch and moan.  FI's cousin, who I sent a gift for her shower, went to wedding in Pittsburgh, she never sent a thank you note for either(but did manage to cash my check), isn't coming to our wedding and fat chance we'll get a gift.  I say the people that are very generous with their gifts make up for the duds.  AND I believe in karma :)

Everyone is in different stages in their lives, especially financially; but that does not mean everyone should not RSVP yes or no and at the least send a card. I would hold FI accountable for that cousin, especially since she cashed your check.

ugh, sucks big time.  I haven't sent out my invites yet but this is one of my fears.  i tend to be a lil overemotional when it comes to items like that so I am hoping i can be the bigger person and not let it bother me..but I am not sure if i can.  Just grin and bear it i guess.

i agree with cmeye though....karma is a wonderful thing!
