Babysitters

So this is my 1st post, although I’ve been reading this board for about a month now and I love how everyone is so helpful…

I’m in the process of finishing up my guest list so I can send out our Save the Dates. Well there’s a reoccurring theme w/ a lil over 50% of the friends and family I want to invite, they have kids. Now in most cases I love the kids to death, but at this time I do not want them at the wedding, it’s something that the FI and I discussed at length… But I know that if I say no kids a lot of my favorite people won’t be able to come.  I was thinking maybe getting a babysitter or two for the ceremony and reception depending on the exact number of kids that are coming… What do you guys think, and do you have any recommendations or better suggestions???

That's probably going to be your best bet and I think it will be greatly appreciated by your guests that want to have a night of adult fun.

Some locations even have sitters already or they may have a list of companies that have been used at their locaiton in the past.  If at all possible, I iwould have a seperate room at your reception location or the hotel most of your guests are staying at so that the parents aren't so anxious about leaving their children with someone they don't know.

I also think that a lot of people with kids end up coming without them because they need an adults night out.  You might want to think about setting up a little area for them at the receoption with coloring books, etc.

I think a babysitter is a great idea. Also, keep the kids in mind for your favors and depending on age, throw together a coloring book or some sort of activity for them to do at the reception to keep them busy as well. GL!
