Same Venue Woes

So....

I've been searching since March and finally fell in love with a venue and I mean love. Then I talked to a good friend with whom I share at least 20-30 mutual friends that will be coming to both of our weddings and he tells me he and his FI have booked ... you guessed it... the same venue I chose. There wedding is September 2011 and ours May 2012 but I feel ... I dunno upset to share a venue that a good amount of our friends will be going to twice. I worked so hard to find one that was me and FI and now it seems like we'll be copying them . Am I being ridiculous? What do you ladies think?

Even if you use the same venue your wedding will be unique to you and your FI. even though you have multiple mutual friends who will be attending both.

Yeah- chill out about it!  Your guests won't care!  Plus- you go after her which means you can critique the snots out of her wedding and make sure anything you don't like about her wedding doesn't happen at yours!  ;)

Well, it IS the BEST venue in the Bay area, so don't be so surprised! :-P
You guys both have great taste!

Seriously though, there's a wedding there almost every weekend and it's never the same twice.  It's a beautiful facility and you can make it all your own.  It's not the venue that makes the wedding it's YOU that makes it!  Chin up!

Bre I just wanted the guests to walk in and go "woooooow" not "oh yeah she just did this differently" I'm trying to not be petty but FI is having misgivings as well

I had a similar problem but the girl was not a good friend and it did not end well but I am not worried what they'll say bc in the end it is our wedding and every time I go to the venue i fall in love more and more and our ideas are far different than hers. If i were you I wouldn't worry about it bc if you two love the venue it will be unique to you two. I am sure your ideas and concepts will be completly deifferent than your friends. I wouldn't think about it and just make sure that you have the wedding of your dreams. In the end it is about the two of you. Good luck!

Ladies you've been super helpful FI and I decided to look at a few more places and if I don't feel that feeling we'll stick to our original plan. He knows how I am and pointed out that he didn't want anyone comparing our weddings after I worked so hard to make it special , gotta love that guy. I'll update you all.
