Anyone having/had/know someone who's had a Silver Dollar City wedding?

Just curious, as it is where we are planning our March 2013 wedding. Unfortunately we can't book it until the second week of January b/c they only book season to season. I communicate frequently with the planner there, and she's super nice, but I would like a little objectivity on the subject. If anyone has been to a wedding there I'd love to hear about it!

  • We were married there in July of this year (2012). We also had the reception there.  Everything went fairly smoothly.  It was very convenient to have everything done at one place.  There weren't a lot of decisions to be made.  Yes, the planner is very pleasant, but has a tendency to talk more than she listens, so be sure to emphasize any special requests you want.  The flowers were beautiful ... the piano player was good (we had our own special music) ... the ceremony was lovely ... the parson was competent and affable ... the cake was very pretty and tasty ... the reception was a buffet where guests had to help themselves, but that was fine ... the food was very good.  The guests did say that the 1 hour wait at the church for the bride to arrive was a little long (especially because it was 105 the day we got married!) But other than that, the coordination of the whole thing was fine (felt a little rushed at times, but basically very efficient).  I would note that the photos are not really "professional" quality.  There were quite a bit of shadows hiding faces, clothing issues, and photos that I woulld consider not appropriate for a couple our age, and we never did get a photo of our entire newly blended family (another consequence of the talking/listening issue)!  Although they do come in a nice photo album and everyone says they are beautiful.  All in all, we had a great day.  It was a lot of fun and almost stress-free, and a very beautiful place to get married.  Congratulations and best wishes.
