Time to shop for bridesmaid dresses!!!

So, I'm so excited to have my mom, FI's mom, and three of my four bridesmaids coming to San Diego next week to do some hard core wedding planning. I really want to pick out bridesmaid dresses while they are all here, but have not done very much research about where to look for affordable bridesmaid dresses. I'm looking for chic and simple (and affordable since I will be paying for them as my gift to my bridesmaids). Where is a good place to take my girls to try some dresses on? Also, do you have to call ahead of time to make an appointment? Thanks ladies!

Alfred Angelo stores are around the country, too, but I'm going with David's Bridal.  Their stores are closer to where my specific bridesmaids live.  (None of my BMs are local.)  I'm trying to make it as easy for them as possible.  I know there are cheaper solutions, but I went with easy.  I'm also planning to pay for their dresses, since they'll all have to pay for plane tickets.I would suggest making an appointment since you'll have that many people.  The stores can get really busy and you might otherwise have to wait around for a while.

I know you don't usually think of Macy's for weddings, but I found peeerfect bridesmaid dresses in a sage green color, t-length that all my bridesmaids love, the best thing about them? $10. I kid you not! my bridesmaids LOVE me for this.
