Budget Wedding Venue / Park Wedding

My fiance and I would like to have an outdoor wedding ceremony on the site of our reception (which can be tented or indoors), but our budget for our whole wedding is very very small. We are looking at $5-10k for about 80 people.  Does anyone know of any parks or venues that would be able to accomodate this budget in Western Connecticut? We both live on the boarder of New York & CT, so even if you know of any in New York (Putnam/Westchester/Dutchess areas)

So far, I have been able to find the Pavilion at Crystal Lake, but that is still very much out of our price range....

Re: Budget Wedding Venue / Park Wedding

  • There are a lot of beautiful little parks in the area, and many of them have covered picnic areas that you might be able to use for your wedding.

This website (click!) has a list of parks across CT that have covered pavilions you can rent. I'm not sure if anyone's ever rented them for a wedding, but it's a pretty cheap rental (around $250). Southford Falls in Southbury is on the list, which is a beautiful location that I have seen wedding ceremonies at!  You would still have to bring in an outside caterer, however.

If you're worried about budget, you might want to consider having your wedding at a non-meal time. That way you can serve cake and snacks instead of a full lunch or dinner. It will save you lots of money!

    Good luck!
  • Apparently Hubbard Park might be a good choice...

Picture just uploaded by Jerome at Studio1923 of a wedding couple at Hubbard Park's castle.
  • Wickham Park in Manchester is nice and has two different outside ceremony sites.   I know it isn't in the area you were thinking but you never know.
counting down to the big day
