Hi all,
I just spent a fair amount of time looking through the engagement shoot recommendations. While they're all lovely, they seem to be largely in the eastern half of the state.
Here's our issue: FI and I will be in Bronxville, NY (southern Westchester County). Photographer is based out of Enfield, CT. Most of her work goes on in Massachusetts. We need a spot for engagement photos that’s equally [in]convenient for us and for the photographer. Our engagement shoot is a whopping 2 days before the wedding, so I don’t want to choose a spot that’s 3 hours (or really, more than 1.5 hours) away, because that’s 6 hours of free time I won’t have available. The photographer recommended Harkness, which is beautiful, but too far. I'm looking for places in the New Haven/Waterberry/Milford and points southwest area of the state.
Also, our shoot will be November 1, so I’m wary of fickle weather (remember the ice storm on Halloween last year?) and am thinking I’d like someplace that has an indoor/outdoor option. I’d also like a place where we can take advantage of the tail end of the fall foliage.
The other thing is we’re actually residents of San Diego, CA (which is why the photos are so close to the Wedding date). There’s not really any place In CT that has particular meaning to us, other than Norwalk Aquarium, where our wedding will be. And we’ll have lots of pictures there! But there’s not really an equivalent to our places in San Diego in Connecticut, so the whole “pick some place with special meaning” thing doesn’t work.
Right now, I’m thinking the lighthouse in New Haven has a lot of nature/structure combinations. Any other thoughts on places 1.5 hours out of both Bronxville and Enfield?
Much appreciated!
Re: engagement photos- [south]western connecticut
Another option might be Southford Falls in Southbury.
