I think they still do weddings but only on the weekdays and when they aren't open. You can see if they will do weekend weddings ceremony before opening (they open at 11am) but I know that they no longer close on the weekends for reception. I've been there a bunch of times and its gorgeous!
I emailed Gouveia when I first started researching locations for our small wedding & reception & I'm c&p'ing the actual email reply I recieved from them:
We do not host wedding ceremonies or wedding receptions at Gouveia Vineyards. If you are interested in having a vineyard wedding, you should visit the CONNECTICUT WINE TRAIL website and click through the various wineries to see which wineries do host wedding ceremonies and receptions. FYI: We do host other private events such as bridal showers, corporate meetings, anniversary and birthday parties. These events must be held on the days that we are closed to the public--MONDAY, TUESDAY, and WEDNESDAY. For more rental information, you may call the vineyard at 203 265-5526, Line #2, and please leave your contact information (name/phone number). Someone will call you back with all the rental information.Thank you for your interest in GOUVEIA VINEYARDSGouveia Vineyards
It's too bad, we love that place. We are getting married on 9/10/11 and plan to stop there after our ceremony & have pictures taken. HTH!
I went and talked to the people to try and convince them to do our wedding, but they would not concede. They used to do weddings, but there was a problem with outside alcohol and timing. They had a policy where you can only have their wine at their vineyard, which is understandable (and very common at most CT wineries), but it got out of control I guess. They do, however, do bridal showers and small functions ilke bachelorette parties, of course, you’ll have to share the place with the masses of other people that go there on the weekends though.
If you’re thinking ofa vineyard wedding Your best bets are:
