Monroe/Trumbull Area Suggestions

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any suggestions for the following in the Monroe/Trumbull area:

-Wedding Venues (I think right now we're looking at Tashua Knolls, Oronoque Country Club, Trumbull Marriott, etc - Any insight into these venues?)
-Ceremony Locations
-Flowers
-DJs/Bands
-Photographer/Videographer
-Rehearsal Dinner Locations
-Breakfast Locations (morning after)

or anything else I might be overlooking at this time?

Thanks,
Lauren

I only have a couple of suggestions, but here they are:

-Wedding Venue/Ceremony Location: The Waterview in Monroe (beautiful venue on Lake Zoar)
-Rehearsal Dinner Location: Vazzy's in Monroe (great food, great service)

For flowers, DJs, photographer, and videographer, you don't need to limit yourself to vendors located only in Monroe/Trumbull.  Most of these vendors will travel anywhere in CT for free or for a small fee (generally florists charge for delivery).

    HTH and good luck!

I'm getting married at Great River Golf Club in Milford (right on the Stratford line).  I know it's not where you listed but close so you may want to look at it.  We're having our ceremony there as well.  I haven't found a florist yet and my photographer is from MA (where I live now) so I don't know if that would be much help.  I'm still planning the other vendors.

Ditto.  And if you write a separate post when you're ready to research these vendors, you'll get tons of responses.  There's lots of knottie favs on here.  I'd say that photography is going to vary the most regarding price range so have a budget in mind.  They can range anywhere from $2000 - $6000.  That range might be a little off but you get the idea.   I think they also tend to book up the fastest.

Re: Florist: We didn't get charged a delivery fee since we were above a certain price range so that's something else to consider.

If you find a photographer that you love, I would recommend asking them for videographer recs. The girls on here obviously have great suggestions too but I thought it was great how my photographer and videographer knew/worked with each other well.

    Good luck!

I've heard good things about Beechwood Florist in Milford. We're using Christine at Azalea Floral Design (in Plainville...I think). Ditto PP's that vendors don't necessarily need to be in your area, although I understand it'd be easier for meetings, etc. Here are the vendors we're using/some other reccos:

DJ: a board favorite is DJ Melee; we're using him as well :)

Photographer: we're using TAB Photographic and have had a great experience so far. You might also want to look into Amanda Rose Photography or Sassy Mouth--those were the others we met with.

Rehearsal/morning after brunch: ditto Vazzy's (although the one I'm thinking of is in Fairfield, on the golf course next to SHU....I think that's the name of the resturant.)

    good luck!

I also love the waterview! I have been to 2 weddings there and it's absolutely gorgeous!!! Also for a photographer I would recommend michelle Ferro (ferrophoto.com). She is creative and works with every budget!

Highly recommend the Waterview! Our guests still talks about how great our reception was a year after the wedding. I did check out the venues you mentioned but they didn't blow me away like the Waterview did. Initially we weren't sure if we were going to have a church ceremony and thought the Waterview had the best view/scenary for ceremony and reception. For rehearsal dinner we used Marisa's in Trumbull. I was hesitant about Marisa's since there were some negative reviews on Yelp but ended up being really impressed with the service and food. I also like Vazzy's but it wasn't big enough for the amount of people we had.

DJ: We used Music in Motion. Mike the owner has done about 3 weddings for our family (another one coming up this Sat).

    Florist: Beachwood Florist in Milford.

Photographer: Photology Studios out of Milford. http://photologystudios.com. I can't recommend our wedding photog since he only does it for friends and family but for our Trash the Dress we used Photology Studios and are extremely happy with the results.

Wedding Venues: Vazzano's Four Seassons, Villa Bianca and I also love the Waterview.

Flowers: Rudy, www.rudysflowershop.com I used them once and I loved them.  The shop is in Bridgeport.

DJs/Bands: I always hear about DJ Melee on this community but haven't meet with him.

Photographer/Videographer:  Here are SOME that I am planning on interviewing...My list is long :) I think they all do video too.

Rehearsal Dinner: Vazzys and Vazzano's Four Seassons is the same company.

We had our ceremony and reception at The Stone Barn at Whitney Farms Golf Course in Monroe.  Loved it ^_^  Great space, reasonably priced.  Our DJ was Tom Salatto from Starry Night Entertainment.  He was fabulous - easy to work with, very professional, kept the party right on pace.

    Good luck with your planning!

Our reception was also at Stone Barn.  We loved the place, the prices were reasonable and they also worked with our Catholic ceremony so there was no need to worry about hosting guests during that awful gap you see from time to time.

Ditto PP that you don't need to use Trumbull vendors for DJs and photographers.  Our DJ was Marty Q and our photographer was Mike Ross.

For the rehearsal dinner you should use Roberto's in Monroe.  I had my rehearsal there for 32 people.  We had a private room with buffet.  It was affordable, classy, and we could have a slide show constantly playing.

    Good luck.
  • Venue: Def Waterview, depending when your wedding is you can get married outside, also Dolce in Norwalk is really nice, Tashua Knolls

Rehearsal Dinner/and or breakfast: I would recommend Marisa's in Trumbull. Great food and they have separate rooms you can rent out for however many guests you need so you'll be a little secluded from others.

DJ- VIP Events is local to Trumbull, and they also have photography. They do a great job, the DJ had a great music selection and was very outgoing. One of my friends got married at Waterview and used them, and the other got married in Stamford and used them.
