Will this look silly?

I am having my wedding reception at The Gershon Fox Room and am not sure if I want my ceremony there as well.

I am interested in maybe having my ceremony at The Asylum Hill Congregational Church. The AHCC sanctuary seats about 800 which is my concern. My wedding will only be about 150 and I am worried about the sanctuary swallowing us but it is breath taking inside!

Will it look silly for me to have my ceremony there?

Re: Will this look silly?

  • Not at all. I've been to my share of church ceremonies, I've never seen one church even close to filled up. I wouldn't worry about it, if you want to get married there, do it.

Not at all! Our church is massive, one of those really old stone cathedreal chuches, and we're having under 100 people. They will sit close enough to the front where it will feel intimate and personal anyway. And I agree with PP, I've never been to a wedding where the church was anywhere close to being filled up :)

  • I don't think so...a lot of the wedding I've been too were held in large churches with only 150-200 guests.  It is fine, people will all gather towards the front. Definitely make sure your ushers/groomsmen bring people to their seats so no one sits in the back, that would be my only suggestion.

<div>Same here, I've never seen a church filled up for a wedding (well besides sound of music!) It's really pretty, if you like it, go for it!</div>

<div>Have you booked your photogs yet? Even if you have, I'd ask to see examples of their work where the ceremony is at a large church like the one you're interested in. That will show you if they have experience in those venues and then you can talk about their approach for shooting in a venue like that. I've seen some really gorgeous pictures of the ceremony that are so intimate I had no idea the church was only a dozen rows deep until I saw a wide angle shot. Good luck!</div>

  • It won't look weird at all. Like PPs, I've never seen a chuch fill up for a wedding.
The church looks gorgeous. I say go for it!  :)
