Leaving for our honeymoon on Christmas night!

10 days in Hawaii!!! 7 on Maui at the Ritz and 3 on Oahu at the Marriott on Waikiki!

What do I absolutely need to pack?!? Suggestions please!

Also, any suggestions on what to do/where to eat?!?

  • bathing suits, bathing suits, bathing suits!  Sunscreen, A jacket and pants if you plan on doing a morning hike of Diamondhead or something of the like.  Actually, a jacket or sweater for nighttime anyway, because it can get a little cold then.  An umbrella, because you may get a little rain in December.  Things to wear to lunch/dinner (I'm always a fan of dresses since they pack and travel well)

When I went to Oahu in December 3 years ago, we drove around the entire island and stopped off at the secluded beaches.  A lot of them, you are the only one on, and it's so much fun!  Those same beaches were packed with people when I went back in September of the next year!

  • Love Hawaii! Make sure you visit the black sand beaches, the volcano, and the lava flow. There's also great little caves you can explore in that are really beautiful and you can go swimming in the lakes underground. If you can, take the helicopter tour to the lava flow. If not, you'll have to hike about 10 miles on dried lava in the heat! Congrats and enjoy (:

  • Have a great time! Light dresses and a light sweater for dinners, bathing suits, shorts and athletic tops and tennis shoes for hiking and lots of sun block!
  • In Oahu: Try Duke's for dinner. It's the Outrigger Hotel on Waikiki. They have wonderful fresh fish and a nice view at sunset!

I also second a previous poster to drive around like to the North Shore and visit the more secluded beaches. It's so much more relaxed up on the North Shore.

  • Maui- Mama's Fish House!  It was our splurge dinner on our honeymoon.  Really good food.

As for packing, make sure you pack plenty of sunscreen and at least one disposable, underwater camera.  We did some water activities and purchased while we were there.  It cost us a lot more than what we would have paid on the mainland.
