Not sure where to go!

My FI and I are trying to figure out a place to go for our honeymoon. We have tons of air mileage points so getting there is not an issue.
Our budget is approx 5k for 7 night.

Our "wish list" is:
All inclusive
Beachfront
good local diving and snorkeling

NOT Mexico

We have started to look at Belize and Honduras, but I wanted to see if anyone else had ideas.

Thanks!

Re: Not sure where to go!

  • Antigua has great diving from what I've heard.
  • I've heard great things about Belize and Costa Rica (although I have no idea about what to expect budget wise).  Depending on when you're going you could also look into the Carribbean.

  • I've heard Belize has the best snorkeling and scuba diving in the Caribbean!
  • the scuba diving and snorkeling in curacao is fabulous!!

  • I vote for St Thomas. You can do day trips to other islands and is suuupper relaxing!

  • H and I are going to Roatan in September.  The hotel we are staying at has the option to be 'all inclusive', but we aren't doing it because we like exploring the restaurants too.  But it's on the same barrier reef that Belize is (2nd largest in the world) and has great diving and snorkeling literally right in front of the hotel.  We're excited to go.

Grand Cayman is supposed to have excellent diving too.  We almost booked a trip there instead, but we went with Roatan because we found a great Groupon.

  • I've been to Belize (Ambergris Caye) and it was great for diving/snorkeling, however not to sure if there are all inclusives.  Honestly though, there are so many great restaurants that you can walk to in San Pedro that I really wouldn't want to be limited to my hotel.

Roatan is also on our wishlist.....just haven't made it there yet.
  • I wouldn't recommend Belize for AI & beachfront. Ambergris Caye doesn't have a good beach (the best snorkeling though, diving is good but because the reef is so shallow, most of the best things you can see just snorkeling).
