Costa Rica HM Booked!

FI and I chose Hotel Riu Guanacaste in Costa Rica.

We booked through Bookit.com so airfare, activities, and all accomodations were wrapped up in a neat little bow.

I know there were a few brides out there considering Costa Rica, so here's why we chose this resort:

The Activities (not included in the all-inclusive 'package', but were easily added on): river rafting, waterfalls (rio celeste), hiking (Rincon de la Vieja), zip lines, and local artisians (pottery) to name a few.

Ammenities: 24-hour restaurants, unlimited alcohol included in the price, spa, beautiful honeymoon suite, round-trip airport transfers

Price: Our some-what flexible budget was $3,600 and we ended up paying just under that for everything plus a few activities added.

  • When are you going?  We're considering Costa Rica for our honeymoon in May 2012 and I would love to hear how you liked it after the honeymoon!

  • You're in luck! June 4th through the 10th of this year. You should probably e-mail me as a reminder... because I may forget to share a review of it here on theknot!

This is how I went about searching/choosing the hotel:

    (1) Click 'Destinations' - it's near the very top of the page
    (2) Find Costa Rica under 'Central America' and click on it
    (3) A large list will appear with different hotels. There are three regions of Costa Rica; Guanacaste, Central Pacific Coast, and Arenal Volcano.
    (4) To see ALL of the hotels in the Guanacaste region, you must click on the small text link that says 'See ALL Guanacaste Deals" - It is to the right hand side of the screen, just above the first hotel listing

I hope that can get you started. I would not recommend the website if you have trouble with these steps because it can be confusing and there is a lot of information that can't be missed.

  • We just returned from our honeymoon in Costa Rica! We stayed at the Hilton Papagayo! The area is beautiful! Everyone that we encountered was friendly and helpful and I definitely felt safe at all times. We've already talked about going back next year. You will have a great time there!!
  • 13andV, thanks!!!

Don't forget to tell us how it was and how the excursions are
