Venue Searching!

I'm looking for some suggestions for venues around the area. My issue is the majority of the guest list (approx. 200) are coming from out of town and for their convenience we'd like to have it either at a hotel or within safe walking distance of one. However I'm not a huge fan of the "ballroom" atmosphere of most of the hotels I've seen online and would like a more organic feeling place. Does anyone have any recommendations that fit both stipulations? And PS, we're working on a fairly small budget! Thanks!

My FI and I are having our wedding at The Lakeside Inn in Mount Dora. It was has that old world charm kind of feel and makes you feel cozy when inside. They are VERY buget friendly and you could do a room block for your guests. HTH! Good luck! :)

Lakeside Inn is the best option I can think of, too. I was going to suggest Casa Feliz, where I got married, until I saw your guest list - it's too small for that. :( You could try looking at Leu Gardens, but their reception spaces are ballrooms (a lot of people like them, but they didn't appeal to me) and I can't remember how pricey they are. You could also check into Lake Mary Events Centre - their indoor reception space is a ballroom, but their outdoor space overlooks a lake, so that's kinda 'organic' yes? :)

Also, take into consideration that some hotels, if you do a room block with them, will shuttle people to and from the wedding. I am getting married at Lake Mary Events Center and I have a room block at the Marriott down the road, I believe it is the Orlando Marriott, and they will take and pick the guests up from the hotel as long as they are given notice. Just something to think about. Good luck!

We are doing ours at the Ballroom at Church St. I also didn't want to have the "hotel wedding" aspect either, and even though the Ballroom is a "ballroom", it surpassed our expectations becuase of all the intricate detailing in the decor, plus it's totally private to our party for teh ENTIRE TIME!! Stained glass in and out side the ballroom, stoned foyer in front for cocktails, brick courtyards on either side of the building, beautiful chandeliers. It's got that old world, historic chram to it! Plus, it's right downtown and in walknig distance to many major hotels that we have blocked rooms at.
Puff N' Stuff is the caterer, and they have been fantastic to work with. You can easily fit your guest list in this venue! Good luck!
