Rehearsal dinner?

Hey everyone!

I am getting married in November in the Winter Garden area, pretty close to Fowler's Grove, and we just started talking about where to have the Rehearsal dinner.. We don't really want it at one of the big chain restaurants (Olive Garden, Unos) but I'm drawing a blank to any fun type atmospheres. I suggested maybe somewhere on I-Drive, but I'm just not sure if thats too far.. Anyone have any suggestions?! Thanks in advance!

Re: Rehearsal dinner?

  • I've heard of a place called the Colorado Fondue Company. I have no idea if they can accomodate a bunch of people, but it's in Casselberry. I've been wanting to go, but haven't yet.

Cafe Trastevere is supposed to be good for rehearsal dinners, according to Yelp. It's on Magnolia Ave in Orlando.

I've also heard of people having wedding rehearsals at 310 Lakeside, in Orlando.

Just some ideas. I really don't know the area that well, besides chain restaurants.

  • We're actually having ours at a bowling alley right by where we live (near the airport) that has really great food for catering, with really great prices. We really wanted a fun alternative to the rehearsal dinner and I actually don't even like bowling but I definitely think it would be a more fun way of everyone socializing over doing it at a restaurant...also, our rehearsal dinner will be about 40 people, with the budget we have for that the bowling alley really worked out at around $10 a person, probably couldn't make that happen at a restaurant. We did look at Dave and Busters as well but they were way over our budget.

We are having ours at Cafe Trastevere. We went there last week for dinner and saw the upstairs private room while we were there. It is plenty big, cute, and charming. Also, their group menu was the most affordable of most places I had looked into. Their cheapest option starts at $18.95 per person. The food was AMAZING, by the way! :)
  • Regarding Cafe Trastevere...

We had our Rehearsal Dinner there back in January and I just want you to be aware that they may try to rip you off.  We had approximately 55 people and we got our bill and it was over $5,000.00.  First, they tried to charge us double the amount of people we had for food.  Once we got that situated they said that we drank almost 80 bottles of wine (which is just ridiculous, we had 55 people and were only there two hours) and numerous bottles of beer.  The price for the "house" bottle of wine was $30 a bottle (which was advertised as $23 on their website).  I would make sure you have the pricing in writing and put a cap on the amount of bottles you drink and they open because they will just continue to open and double the number you drank.  There were no apologies for the whole situation, and the food was not that good.  I hope that your rehearsal dinner goes better then ours did, because it was just flat out embarassing having to argue with the owner in front of our guests.

The food at 310 Lakeside is really good and I really wished I would have booked there because we wound up spending the same amount of money we would have spent there.  Plus our hotel was right next door.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
