Unique wedding venues

My finace and I are kind of stumped on where we would like to get married. We're trying not to spend too much money, but we're not super low budget. We do NOT want to get married on a beach, but I'd be willing to have the option of having picutres taken on the beach. I'm not religious, and we don't really want to be married in a church.

I really want a place with a lot of character, possibly even historic. We're currently living in Gainesville, FL and are willing to traves 2-3 hours to get to a place we love.

Have you looked at Casa Feliz?

I was just about say Casa Feliz as well. :) There's also a really pretty B&B somewhere around Gainesville... Sweetwater Inn, or something like that? They seemed like really nice people when we talked to them, and their gardens were gorgeous. Umm... Town Manor in Auburndale, Dubsdread in Winter Park... there's that one place around Mt. Dora that people keep recommending but I can never remember the name! GL!

Definitely check out Lakeside Inn. That's where FI and I are getting married and it's beautiful! It has that old world charm and cozy feeling. Good luck! <3

Look at the Winter Park Farmers' Market. Lots of character! Many people have their ceremony on the patio and the reception inside. I'm having my reception there- I am obsessed!!!
Casa Feliz is nice but it is kinda small so it depends on the guest count and if you want a seated dinner.

Have you tried the Thomas Center in Gainesville? It's off of Univ. and it's gorgeous w/ TONS of history! I wonder if people get married at the Hippodrome in downtown too? My venue doesn't have a lot of history but I do agree w/ the previous posts. Those are some great locations!

I'd have to agree with all of the ladies on Casa Feliz, the Lakeside Inn at Mt. Dora, and the Winter Park Farmers Market. I'm an Orlando wedding planner, and a soon-to-be-bride myself. My fiancee and I wanted something different, not the typical ballroom wedding. My fiancee is in law school, and we decided on the Orange County Regional History Center in downtown Orlando. It is the original Orange County Courthouse building. Our ceremony is being held in the original 1927 courtroom, which is spectacular! The reception will be in the traveling exhibit hall. They include tables, chairs, dance floor, and museum quality room lighting in the color of your choice. They also focus individual spots on each centerpiece. www.thehistorycenter.org. If I can answer any more questions or give you any other vendor recommendations, please feel free to contact me via my website: www.YourEpicEvent.com. Good luck and congratulations!
