MY GUEST LIST IS BLOWING UP!

Holy hannah!

I got word that there are about 20 coming from Spain to attend our wedding... I love them so I am excited to have them here but now I need to figure things out! lol

We decided not to send out STD so that we don't need to decide on who is invited now... in November, when invites go to get printed, if we haven't spoken to you in way too long, OUT! Sealed

I can completely understand that rule.  I have a 6-8 month rule abotu invitation with the exception of some uncles who I was forced to invite.  Smart move in my opinion.

awww! I know what you mean! When we did our STD's we counted and our guest list was at like 255. Then there were other people that somehow did not end up on our list, and that's like 10 more people! Sooo crazy!

I know the feeling. I signed the contract with my venue, and sent out STD's for 50 guests (it's always easier to add guests later, than to remove). Now I'm up to 70 guests, but I have confirmation that all of them are attending. Why can't we be like other weddings where 20% of those you invite say no? Ugh.

My guestlist has been relatively easy because I moved cross country right before getting engaged. Any friends who are too lazy to call me now that I'm not convenient are OUT. Moving tells you who your real friends are because they're the ones who will stay in touch even when you're far away, and I want real friends at the wedding. FI's having a harder time with his guestlist because he's lived in LA for the last 20+ years, so hasn't had the distance test.

    Good luck!

I can relate! I have had to make a firm guest list because my family feels like they should invite whoever they want and they tell everyone they are invited! We want a smallish wedding, originally of 80. The list is now at 130 and I'm going home to have a chat with my dad about NOT inviting more people! My venue holds max of 120 so that helps :)

Ugh I'm in your same boat!! I chose a venue that fits up to 200 but 150 to have a bigger dancefloor on purpose so we could keep out guest list under but now FIs grandmother is giving us a hard time about how she NEEDS to invite more people than that. It's not her wedding! And even though she offered to pay for them, at this point it's more about he space...I don't want it to be cramped. And we're also going to be an exception to the 20% don't show up rule lol. Ayayyyyy!!

lol.. my FIs grandmother is upset because she can't invite her friends ... I'm like, really? really? I wasn't aware that grandparents needed to start inviting their friends to MY wedding which I AM PAYING FOR!
For months and months and months our guest list was approximately 120 ... and yet almost 150 people got invited in the end ... oy vey!

Glad I'm not alone with this! My own grandmother told me not to worry about any of her friends. She even told me to forget about her sister haha! She understands were paying for this. Oh and Giannina, were not doing STDs (ew) either for the same reason :) glad I'm not the only one lol

We too will be an exception to the 20% rule! lol

I was looking through my list the other day and told myself, all of these people are local, and all of these people will come!

There might be like 5 people that won't show up! So cutting down the guest list to begin with is a must!

Yes, even with invites out, my guest list somehow jumped about an extra 5 people. We started with 120, we know have over 140. AH!

I and I see that everyone know exactly how you feel LOL. I've been telling FI for over a week now that we have to look into our guest list. We started with 100 and were almost 140! He's trying to avoid it, but it''s killing me inside! lol
