Alternative bouquet tossing...

Sorry I am blowing up the board this morning, but I'm beginning to freak out...

I like the idea of tossing the bouquet, but am not in love with the garter toss. Is there a way to toss the bouquet without making it weird and obvious that we didn't also toss the garter and do that whole thing?

Re: Alternative bouquet tossing...

  • I was actually nervous because ALL of my friends are in relationships. I do not know of any person that will be coming alone.

SO...This is what I was thinking: Making a "toss the bouquet" and "Garter" and have both couple come in and do the routine.. If not, I'd be tossing my bouquet to my 8 year old daughter..lol

    What do you think?!

  • One of our old marrieds (CMP1986) did a bouquet toss by calling every married couple up to the dance floor and the DJ said "if you've been married 1 year or less, leave the dance floor", "If you've been married 5 years or less, leave the dance floor" until the last couple stood alone. They were given the bouquet for being married the longest.

    Maybe an option?

OR, you can totally do the bouquet toss w/o the garter toss! It's your wedding! Do your thing!

  • I love Faith's idea of the married couples its super cute and fun, but I also think not doing the garter and just doing the  bouquet toss is fine. I am sure no one will see it weird

  • I didn't have a garter toss (or wore one for that matter).
Also, I did not want to do a bouquet toss because everyone was in coupleas as well.....but....
....at the end of the night, when most people were gone and the DJ was packing and the crew cleaning up.....my close cousins (and sis and bridesmaid) asked me to throw it anyways. I now have the most hilarious "you-better-get-out-of-my-way-this-thing-is-mine" bouquet toss video (FI took it).....

I did that with mine. Only We had all the married couples on the dance floor dancing to "When I Said I Do" by Clint Black. First our DJ called out for "married 5 hours or less" to leave the dance floor. Then one week (we had a  friend of ours get married 6 days before us) and so on an so forth.
Our longest married couple was my Dad's best friend  and "The Voice of the Crusaders." (The football announcer at mine and DH's high school.) 44 years. They were so touched and surprised.

Alas, I did have an actual tossing too. Only because my florist gave me a tossing bouquet at no charge.

As far as the garter goes; you don't have to have your then DH remove it from under your dress in front of everyone, you could just toss it. I went to a wedding when the DJ just announced the tossings because the bride was uncomfortable with the removal part.

  • We are also doing the "anniversary dance" I think its called with no toss though. We are using "Then" by Brad Paisley and the married couple who is left on the dancefloor I give the bouquet to.
