DOC Pricing Question?!

Hello Ladies, I am on here like everyday but never post cause my wedding is so far out I'm not really doing anything yet.  My question is, my family and my in laws have decided that I should get a day of coordinator cause they think that I will be too stressed on the day of to enjoy my own wedding, which I kind of agree with.  I found a previous post with all your coordinators on it so I will be looking into them. I was thinking about spending about $500-$700, but in that same post a girl said hers is about $900.  I just don't think that would be in the budget and on some of the websites they don't post prices so I don't even know if I should start looking for one. So I was wondering what do DOC's usually cost?  You don't have to tell me exactly how much ball park figures work too. Thanks for all your help and I'm sorry this post was so long.

I hired Christina aka Tina Molina, a lot of girls from the board have used her and were very pleased with her work. I've heard only good things about her and her assistant. I contracted her for the month of and 8hrs. for the day of...for about $600 I think, hehe don't remember the exact total, but for sure did not go over $700. Anyway you should check out her blog at tinamolina.blogspot.com so you can get a little more info. GL!

First of all congratulations on your engagement and happy planning! My day of coordinator will be $975 which includes a walk through, rehearsal coordination, calling all the vendors and confirming delivery and/or arrival and then of course the day of coordination for 9 hours. $900 is about as inexpensive as I've seen. You may be able to get something in the $700 range but I haven't seen prices much lower than that. If you can find an extra $200 in your budget I would highly recommend that you do it. I am so happy that we have some one to hand everything off to when we get there, getting married in Santa Barbara, so we can just enjoy the weekend. Hope that helps and good luck!!

Congratulations on your engagement.  I totally agree that you need someone to handle the details on your wedding day.  I didn't want my mom or sister to have to worry about it either, so IMOH a coordinator is a need as opposed to a want.Mine has been excellent so far.  You can contact Kami at www.plannedelegance.comor call the office to leave a message to see if she is available for your day. 213 787 6727HTH

BTW...experienced Coordinators will offer DOC service for an average price range between $800 on the low end and $1500.00 on the high end.  Mine was $900, but she & her assistant is onsite for 12 hours.

I'd say average is about $1000 (give or take a few hundred)which usually includes 2 coordinators for about 10 to 12 hours.Mine offered an hourly rate, but by the time I figured out how many hours I wanted assistance it made more sense for me to go with a package that included unlimited communication,a timeline and DOC.

Like pp, we hired Christina Molina. So far she has been great :) Answers all our questions. We just went for the day services. I believe it was $500 but I'm really considering going for the package that includes the 2 months and the day of. She is definitely under $700. (I think) Other knotties that have used her only speak great things about her. She even went with us to the florist, so we;d get an additional discount and she didn't have to since she is only our day of coordinator. She is just great. We have also decided she's got a great eye and hired her to do our invitations. And we can't wait to see what she is created. You should just set up an appt and meet her she is just great, when we met her I hired on the spot. It just clicked :) HTH!

Ditto PP.  A lot of great 'start-out' coordinators charge lower prices so they can begin to gain experience. The more experienced coordinators are going to charge more money. We used Kerrie Underhill (and her assistant) as our 'week of' . I was in contact with her throughout the year. We had several meetings before the wedding. She was the point of contact for all our vendors the week of the wedding, and she was there from 1:30pm-11:30pm the day of the wedding. She charged us $1500 (review in bio)I know this is higher than your budget allows, but I just wanted to give you an idea of what we paid.

Thank you to everyone that replied, I'm going to take a look at Kerrie Underhill, Christina Molina and also Kami.  I really do appreciate all the feedback, you guys are awesome.   I know it would totally be worth it because our country club doesn't do little things like put out favors, or set out the escort cards, I just don't want to have to deal with things like that on the day of.  Also thank you all so much for giving me actual prices, it's really appreciated it's always a little hard to figure out what someone else means when they say kind of expensive.

Just for comparison, we are going with Paola at Just Chic Events and her fee is $1500. This includes several meetings beforehand, unlimited correspondence, rehearsal and DOC, and more!It looks like she is above your price range, but she is awesome and already helped me out so much!Your best bet may be a good, less experienced planner who is just starting out, their rates are lower.

I also hired Kami Hairston (Planned Elegance).  I hired her late last year. I had some family issues that caused me to have to change my wedding date, but she was understanding and said it was not a problem to change the date if it was open and thankfully, it was.I like the fact that she is available anytime from the beginning.I paid $800 late last year, but she allows the total fee to be paid in 3 payments so that made it alot easier on my pocketbook.  I think she her prices increase went up for 2009, but her fee is still low/mid-range as far as Coordinators go.

We also went with Paola from Just Chic Events and I couldn't be happier with our decision.  She is definitely higher than $700 but I wanted someone with experience.  I was too worried about hiring someone who was really new to planning and/or had no reviews on Project Wedding, as are some of the planners who charge somewhere in that lower range.  And just to give you a broader scope of prices out there, some of the coordinators I contacted for DOC were in the $2k and up range.

Geez, I am in the wrong business. I can't believe they charge so much! We have a friend whose mom is a wedding coordinator and had offered to do it for free, so I never had to look into prices. she flaked on us the day before the wedding, but everything still went as planned, so I don't think people necessarily need them. good luck though! =)

There's a possibility I'm moving out of state 2 months before my wedding. I'm thinking a coordinator might be necessary. But they're so expensive! I think I might contact Tina Molina in a few weeks though, and see what this whole 2 month+day-of package is all about.

We hired Tina Molina and her assistant for DOC services for $500 for our wedding in August. This included day of services of course, and she was also at our rehearsal the day before. Both DH and I think she was totally worth it. Even though she is in a lower price range than other DOC's,  I don't think that was reflected in the quality of her work. Tina and her assistant made our wedding day run smoothly and I couldn't have been happier with her. Good luck and happy planning!

I too am working with Kami of Planned Elegance. She has been great thus far. I went with her lower package and feel as though this was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I saw a friend of mine get married last year. She didn't have a coordinator at all and she was stressed on her wedding day, which is why I decided to hire one. She tried to delegate friends to execute some of the tasks and it just didn't work out as well as it could have with a professional.
