Buckeye favors

Again, trying to make up for a game day wedding. So we had thought about doing buckeye candy favors, we make them all the time anyhow, but were worried not being cold would make them mooshy and yucky ( I always keep mine in the fridge) But, bk920 you said you had done this?? Anyone else do this? Did they turn out to be fine?

I have made buckeyes before and given them as gifts for christmas. The peanutbutter center I don't think is what matters - it gets softer then in the fridge but not mushy. To me it is all about the chocolate. You can use normal Nestles Baking chips from your local grocery and they seem to do fine but I have found the best results with actual chocolate discs from like patcatans or local bakery supply store. That chocolate does not go soft out of the fridge. And actually moving them from a fridge to warm air back to a fridge - that sort of thing can be what makes them mushy. A fridge is full of moist cool air and then it builds the condensation on them as they warm up from the normal moist air. If you make them an them store them in tight containers in room tempetature or cooler but not a fridge - that might help as well. HTH!!

Hey, my mom was going to make 400 for us for favors but couldn't get them from FL to OH so we decided to go with Marsha's Homemade Buckeyes.  They were cheaper than what she could've made them for and they will be good the day of.  The guy said he would overnight them to us so they would be fresh.  They are definitely homemade and not molded since you can see the little toothpick hole :)  I hope this helps.  If you have any questions don't hesitate!  P.S. We found a good deal on truffle boxes to put them in :)

Yep it's ....http://marshashomemadebuckeyes.com/The FI, myself, my mother, and father all tried them and really liked them.  She sells them at Cracker Barrel in small amounts if you just want to try them.  We all really liked them.  My mom said she's going to buy the big boxes of them and we'll just put them into the box ourselves.  :)  Anything else don't hesitate!

Ours did trun out very well. They took some time to do, but we did get alot of compliments. I don't know how many you have to make but we made around 175 and each person got 2.

We got ours at Malley's, but they are probably on the more expensive side.   i didn't shop around much for them so not sure.
