Are you getting a Wedding Band?

Re: Are you getting a Wedding Band?

  • Yes, although i love my engagment ring on its own, the designer made a matching band specifically fit to my e-ring. Together it looks more beautiful than i could have imagined.  To me the wedding band is the most important of the rings.
  • i thought youre supposed to have the e-ring then when you get married, you put a band on with the e-ring. well thats what im doing anyways haha
  •   No I'm not getting a wedding band. My e-ring is too wide and it would look funny if i did. i love my e-ring and the way it is it almost looks like 3 rings put together anyway it has a row of diamonds on the top and bottom and what look like flowers in the middle i think it would ruin the look of my e-ring to wear a wedding band!!

  • I totally agree. Isn't it the marriage that seals the deal, not the engagement ring?
  • Mine is a bridal set, so it already comes with the the nad ( and its diamond encrusted also) i plan to wear the engagment rig part down the isle and then have the wedding band put on for the vows. after the weeding i'm having the whole thing fastened together
  •     Im actually going to have plain white gold bands on either side of my e-ring. Im a Libra so I needed balance in the ring! The e-ring has stones on the top of the band but not the sides so I wont be covering up any diamonds and I figure, I can always wear the e-ring on the right hand and wear the 2 band together on the left. When I was in the jewelry store the owner suggested a funky diamond band to go in the middle of the plain ones ( stacked ).We definatly can afford that right now but maybe an aniversary! Like everyone mostly said I place more sentiment in the wedding band(s) more than the e-ring.

  • I'm getting a diamond jacket for my engadgment ring. Since my fiances took the time to pick out my e-ring I want to always wear it. The jacket made a nice simple enhancement to my solitare heart shape diamond.

I purposely picked out my engagement ring knowing that I would eventually have a wedding band to go with it.  I chose to get a solitaire diamond engagement ring because I knew that I wanted diamonds in the wedding band.  So when we went ring shopping before getting engaged we made sure to see how the ring I liked would look with the available wedding bands.
  • I always just wanted one ring since that is what i was used to from Europe in the days that i grew up there. Now as i got Engaged in the US i wanted to implement it and my FI had a different idea. So we ordered our rings costum and they turned out great. We both had a  idea about what my ring supposed to look like and we were able that way to implement each others elements. You may think that is to expensive it was all together $1700 dollars and we are very happy with our choices and how we were able to get what we both wanted. And we are able to make payments till they're paid off and we are half way there already, after them being ordered just 4 weeks ago. I give all the glory to GOD on that and the rest of our Wedding so far everything that we need it already paid in full. Our budget is $3000 including the rings with 200 Guests.
  • I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the ring my fiance picked out as my engagement ring for me. It has 33 diamonds on it including my "Dream" diamond of HOF. We looked at wedding bands and had a hard time at first. But since my ring was custom made our jewler told us we can make any ring we want to match my ring. My ring has diamonds on all sides so wearing a wedding band is going to cover up one side of my diamonds. BUT the wedding band we have picked out matches my ring EXACTLY (with the exception of my HOF diamond). At first I wasnt wanting a ring that had diamonds on the side like my ring but after alot of thought the diamonds would most likely scratch a plain wedding band (or possibly scratch). Im getting the band that matches my engagement ring exactly. I LOVE it and can't wait to wear it! Furthermore, I feel agree with those who are wearing both. Its the symbol of the wedding ring that I love the most. I plan on wearing both rings on my finger forever. I love the idea of having both rings on the same finger because it will symbolize our marriage. Only seeing one ring on the finger, to me, still represents someone in engaged. Thats just my opinion though. I CANNOT wait to wear both my GORGEOUS rings together! :-D

  • I'm definitely getting a wedding band. I was a little concerned about finding one because my ring is an heirloom, and a band can't sit flush beside it. But, as has been mentioned many times before, the wedding band is much more important than the engagement ring.

I have a friend who only has her engagement ring. She gave it back to her husband before the ceremony for the ring exchange (which I think has all kinds of weird symbolism going on). She looks like she's still engaged. People still ask her when her wedding is, and she gets offended.

    Get a wedding band.

  • I like the idea off wearing both the e-ring and the wedding band..the e-ring stands for the beginning and the wedding band is the end..
  • Really, the wedding band is the ring you get married with, so if it's your e-ring, and that's what you want, then there you go.  Other people are going to make assumptions about you on everything, ever, so that's one more for them to make, oh well.
In the end, the ring is a symbol of the vows you made-not the actual love itself.  The love won't disappear with the ring-what if it was stolen/lost?  Yes, it is a symbol and should be cherished, but what the symbol is doesn't really matter.
Also, I was always told the wedding band goes on first because that's closest to your heart.  I always thought it was the other way around, too, until someone told me that.
  • I'm getting a wedding band also. My e-ring is a round cut diamond with 5 tiny channel set diamonds on either side. I had the hardest time finding what I wanted as a wedding band! I didn't love the channel set eternity rings so I opted for a 3 stone round cut diamond band with channel set on either side to match with my e-ring. It has to be custom made - like my e-ring was - so the channel stones match up correctly. I would recommend talking with some jewelers and looking online for ideas. That's how i found what I wanted. I just stumbled across it one day when I was looking for wedding bands with the idea of wearing my e-ring on my right hand.

Very good point ladies about not always wanting to wear diamonds! I am probably going to ask my fiance for our one year to get me an inexpensive white gold band that I can wear when I dont want all the diamonds.

Do whatever you want! These days anything goes for sure!
