ok I'm lost!!  our reception is 6-12

what order are/were your reception events?  i have no idea when do to the father daughter/mother son dance... is the first dance before dinner after dinner? when do we cut the cake.. ect..

The order is totally up to you!  I've been to weddings where they introduce the wedding party and then do speeches and dances.  But I also went to a wedding where the bridal party was introduced, then the bride and groom to a really upbeat song and they walked in and went straight into their first dance song which I really liked because sometimes during the first dance, the guests are kind of talking/getting drinks etc and this format really ensured that the guests sort of paid attention lol.  Think about what will flow best and what will be more time efficient.

Not doing the garter or bouquet toss so I'm not much help there...

We did the parents then BP entrance. 

After that we did our grand entrance then the 1st dance.  DInner was served after or during that dance. 

We ate for awhile then did a video montage.  

After that was the mother/son and father/daughter dance.

We did the garter and bouquet toss, cake cutting then dancing.
