Music Questions

OK I am not really diggin' the typical Wedding March, Canon in D, or other common wedding processional songs.  However, I have decided I dont really want a song with words, as the DJ usually cuts it off mid song anyway and I hate how that songs...It's like "Aaaat laaaast....My love has come along...my lonley days..." And that's it.
So does anyone have any other advice for something different for me to walk down the aisle to?
Also, what songs are you having played as your guests come in as well as your wedding party??

Look into Vitamin String Quartet. They are sting instruments, but play well-known songs without the words. My BMs walked in to Stairway to Heaven (Led Zepplin's), I marched in to Love Story (Taylor Swift's), and hubby and I walked out to Alejandro (Lady Gaga's).... all done by VSQ.

I was just in a wedding in Dec with a huge bridal party.
    Songs for the procession included:
    Elvis "It's Now or Never"
The White Stripes "We Are Gonna Be Friends"
    The Pretenders "Brass in Pocket"

The bride walked down to Little Shadow by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It was Beautiful. The aisle was long and the song played for a little bit before she came out and then it was faded out after the first chorus during an instrumental part.

I think based on your personality as a couple you could pretty much use any song you feel is suitable. You could find something with words that is shorter so you could get at least one chorus in. Or as a PP noted you can use a classical version of popular songs. Personally, I am using a classical/baroque version of a classic rock song to walk down the aisle because it suits/represents my a huge part of my relationship with my dad.

My advice would be to have a better DJ...

Seriously, one that knows music well enough and is good at it will know how to fade or transition a song smoothly enough that it's not an upset.

My processional will be an acoustic version of The Day Before You by Mathew West.  I'll probably have it play a bit before I start walking, and walk really slow because I like the song.  LOL

I don't think there's anything wrong with having a lyrical song, as long as the general feel/tone of the song fits your wedding.  I can guarantee you none of your guests will be paying too much attention to the lyrics.

For our processional I'm leaning toward an instrumental version of John Lennon's Imagine.  For my walk I am having the theme from The Princess Bride: Storybook Love.
