tempe lake drained?!?

So my wedding is october 29th 2010 at tempe center for the arts, right on tempe town lake. When I heard the lake was being drained i wanted to cry! the ballroom we have has windows on three sides that look out onto the lake!?! And guess when the construction is suppose to e done-November 1st.

Should i look for another venue? i have already made both a catering and venue deposit-what should i do?

I believe you mean Tempe Town Swamp :)

I would discuss this with your venue for sure. If the views really bother you, you're going to have to walk away and lose your deposits. If you're willing to get married at the same place later, most venues will allow your deposit to be used for a later date.

I would fight to have at least some of my deposit returned to me unless they can guarrantee your view will be restored. I know the whole reason I picked my venue (The Waterfront) was because of the lake views, so if they were gone I would be livid. I realy hope this gets resolved and I'm so sorry you're being affected by all the mess!

The lake is supposed to fill back up again in 2 weeks. I wouldn't worry about it.

From the news, Tempe Town Lake is empty after one of four rubber dams on the south end tore late Tuesday night. The lake is expected to be closed until early November while a new dam structure is put in place.

Talk to your venue, if they can't do anything about it -- they are losing significant business as well, can you close the blinds, and keep your reception indoors?

Unfortunatley this probably falls into the "force majure" clause of your contract, totally out of your venues control.
I feel for you, we had discussed having engagement photos taken there, clearly not an option now, but nothing compared to your disappointment.....so sorry.

Oh my, I am so sorry. This is very sad and I feel for you. I would calmly discuss your concerns with your venue. In my experience being calm always seems to make people more willing to work with you than coming in super upset. Your venue did not cause nor did they have control of this problem. But I am sure you are not the only bride whose wedding plans are in a bit of distress because of the news. I would bet they have at least tried brainstorming for a few other people.

KTSANDERS2B-We were also having engagement photos there in September... I feel your pain too!
