HELP US WIN OUR DREAM WEDDING!

So my fiance and I entered this contest to win a free dream wedding at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak. We had to make a video about how we got engaged and why we deserve the wedding, and we just found out on Thursday that we are part of the Final Five contestants!

On Monday, our video will go up on Facebook and the one with the most likes on the 24th wins!

If you awesome Knot Ladies could help us we would truly appreciate it!

I will update on Monday with the link! :)

Since almost everyone here is paying for their own wedding, these types of posts generally aren't received very well, and often result in votes for your competition. Just a little warning.

  • There's no reason anyone else couldn't have entered the same contest... so there's no good reason not to support fellow brides for things like this.

Voting for their competition just because they're doing all that they can to get support (especially from a place where the whole point of the community in the first place is helping each other out) would be really, really petty.   It's one thing if you don't want to help and ignore the post, it's another to actually spend the time and energy just to try to sabotage someone seeking support.

Anyway,  congrats on making it to the final vote, and good luck!

<div>Unfortunately, this has never stopped anyone from doing just that. And one could argue that OP isn't really a part of the community since she's only posted twice. </div><div>
</div><div>I don't care one way or another, but I've seen this situation play out more than once with people using the exact arguments I mentioned. Just trying to give a girl a heads up. Maybe seek support from friends and family on FB. They'll probably be more receptive. </div>

  • I know you don't agree Syndelin, but it clearly says in the terms of use under #5:  No soliciting of any kind on the message boards or in the chat room.

To me, that means not asking people to vote for you in a contest. If this behavior is condoned, I can imagine TK turning into nothing but posts asking people to vote for them or like their FB pictures so they can win something.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • Honestly, it doesn't really matter if I agree or not...  I mod by the guidelines set out by the people higher up on the knot than I am.  It's been discussed a few times on the mod boards, and we're always told the same thing.  Soliciting in the ToS context is trying to sell products or services on the boards.

If these types of posts were getting posted so often that the board was over run with them, it would be one thing, but I think we get maybe 2 a year.  It's not a big deal, nor should it be a debate every time it comes up, and I don't see why it's always attempted to be made into one.   There's no reason not to be respectful, and simply move on if you don't want to help or vote.
