Destination wedding in Rocky Point??

Hi,

I am having my wedding in Rocky Point this upcoming April, 17, 2011. I am very excited about the beach front estate we are renting! I am wondering if anyone else in this area has also done the same thing? We are going to be there for a long weekend and the morning after our wedding we are moving over to a resort also in Rocky Point.

If you have been to a wedding like this or had one yourself, can you give me any tips of things you noticed?

My wedding is going to be outside on the beach and my receiption will also be outside. How should I wear my hair, how is the weather that time of year? ETC... Any help is great!

I've been to Rocky Point SEVERAL times. Main thing is BE CAREFUL. It's getting kinda rough down there lately. I've had one friend who got carjacked, and unfortunately one friend whose sister was killed by a drunk driver. Just make sure your guest are near a hotel where they don't have to drive at night. The federalis are getting alot more strict down there.

I didn't see it myself, but my mom said there was a warning from the government on TV about traveling to Mexico.  Basically, they said: Don't.  I understand that it's a bit late in the game to completely relocate your wedding, but just don't be surprised or take it personally if some of your guests won't go to Mexico.  Good luck and stay safe!

My family goes to Rocky Point frequently,  In fact, my mom, step dad, aunt, uncle and cousins were all down there last week.  My aunt owns a home in Las Conchas.  We'll be going for Thanksgiving.

You can have a beautiful ceremony for a wonderful price down there.  If you're looking for traditional Mexican food fo your catering, definitely get in touch with Rosie's.  Her prices are incredible and the food is delicious!

Well we recently made a trip into Rocky Point, it is soo Americanized and everyone there was soo hospitable and there are even signs in English because so many Americans travel down there!

I am confident that it will be great! I think all the crazy news is for other parts of Mexico that are a little more - dare I say, "Ghetto"...

It will be a beautiful wedding!

    Thanks for all your input!
